Open our eyes that we may see
This block of instruction is from 2 Kings 6:13 – 23. We all have the illusion of control. We like to think that not only are we in control of our own lives, but somehow we can control the future. The only control we have is not pursuing fleshly pleasure too early. If we do there is a good chance that pursuing fleshly pleasure will become our primary focus. The truth is no one is clairvoyant and there are no guarantees. Just do the best you can to be as good as you can, let the chips fall where they may. In this lesson Elisha, the prophet who received the mantel after Elijah, is being summoned by the king of Syria. The king of Syria sends a small army for Elisha. Elisha’s servant sees the city surrounded by the Syrian army and gets afraid. Elijah tells his servant that the army on their side is larger than the Syrian army. The servant doesn’t see the army on their side. Then Elijah asked God to open the servant’s eyes and the servant sees chariots of fire. Then Elisha prays for God to blind the Syrians. This blindness must have of the minds ability to perceive rather than physical blindness because Elisha leads the Syrian army into Israel. When they enter Samaria which is the capital of Israel Elisha this time prays for God to open their eyes that they may see. Then the Syrians realize that they are in Samaria. Our perception is in the hands of the Lord. Unless God opens our eyes we will not realize that we are choosing our own destruction. We have murdered around 60,000,000 infants before they had a chance to draw their first breath. We used some of the dead body parts to manufacture make-up. We condemn normal relations and legalize gay marriage. This does not make sense. How can we have a future destroying family values? The family headed by a father has been the backbone for strong nations for thousands of years. We have cheapened the institution of marriage to satisfy a few perverts. We are committing self-inflicted mass suicide.
