Moses and the Prophets
This parable is found in Luke 16:19 through 31. The parable is this: There is a rich man who is unnamed and a poor man named Lazarus. The rich man dines sumptuously every night while Lazarus lay at his gate, covered in sores and desiring the crumbs from the rich mans table. Then they both die. Lazarus is carried to Abrahams bosom but the rich man lift up his eyes in hell. The rich man sees Abraham with Lazarus and wants Lazarus to put a drop of water on his finger and ease his thirst. Abraham tells him it is impossible and goes on to explain how this life should prepare you for the next. Like you spend more of our life as an adult than as a child, you will spend more time in the next life than in this one. Childhood should prepare us for adulthood and train up a child and when he is old he will not depart from it when they grow up. Failing to get water, the condemned rich man request Lazarus warn the rich mans brothers that there is an afterlife. Abraham informs him that they have Moses and the prophets. What is the bible saying? Where do you find Moses and the prophets? They Are Found in the Old Testament. Jesus stresses the Old Testaments importance in preparing one for the afterlife. Jesus also proves there is an afterlife. Religion is too concerned with success in this life . Read the word of God and let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart.
