Make a choice
First read Jeremiah 2:27:28. Some people dont want to go to church on Sunday. On Sundays they would rather watch T.V., do yard work, wash the car, or play golf. Instead of hearing Gods word which would improve the quality of life, Gods word takes a back seat to possessions and responsibilities. We need to make a choice. We need to decide who is God? Either God is God (and we should do what He wants and avoid what He hates), or our perceptions and expectations will make God give us blessings without having to earn them. The scripture illustrates God finding His children worshiping other gods, and then calling on Him when they needed help. The first question God asks in verse 28 is, where are the gods that you made? If you would rather wash your car than go to church, what you should do if the doctor gives you three months to live is wash your car and see if that cures you. If you would rather cut your grass than go to church, when your child is in an accident, do some yard work. If you would rather play golf than go to church, when you or someone close to gets involved in an accident, dont pray, play golf. Some of us use our bibles as if it were a fire alarm. Break only in case of emergencies.
