A blessed and Merry Christmas to you and yours. May we all take the time to praise God and give thanks for His one and only Son, Jesus coming into this world and experiencing life as a man, teaching us God's love, and finally going to the cross on our behalf, willingly so that we might be reconciled to God and given eternal life. Praise God Almighty. Amen.
Jesus Christ is the firstborn son from the DEAD!
He is not the firstborn of God.
Just as Isaac was not the firstborn of Abraham, but was the firstborn of Abraham because he was the choice of God; Ishmael was the son who was born first, but Isaac was declared firstborn. Remember the story of the inheritance, and the mess of pottage.
"Firstborn" is not a designation of one who is born first in a succession; it is a designation of one who has been selected for a position of dominance.
ISRAEL
Exo 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD,
Israel is my son, even my firstborn:23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.
EPHRAIM
Jer 31:9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and
Ephraim is my firstborn.
DAVID
Psalm 89:3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, 19 Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. 20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: 24 But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. 26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. 27 Also
I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.
Every reference to Jesus being the only begotten son of God, is a reference to the resurrection where Jesus is the firstborn and only begotten from the dead.
Colossians 1:18 And
he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning,
the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Romans 1:4 And
declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness
, by the resurrection from the deadSo Jesus is not the only firstborn son of God, nor is He the first firstborn son of God. He is the only born firstborn from the dead. THAT is what makes him the creator of the new creation. Jesus' creation activity as always passive. Jehovah God, the Father's creative activity was always Active.
Merry Christmas and blessed be the name of our God, and His son and our saviour, Jesus Christ, to the glory of the Father.
