John 6
For this exercise you will need a King James Bible and this page. First read the verses and then read the comments.
Verse 1 through 14
The feeding of the 5,000 is the only miracle in all four gospels. In the miracle, Christ feeds a multitude with a lunch prepared for a small boy. The point is it is hard to understand the bible unless you break it down. The bible has a message. The Holy Spirit did not take a couple of millennium to write the bible for no reason. Our main problem today is that we don’t rightly divide the word of God. We stress and highlight one scripture and ignore everything God said through the prophets. When God spoke to Jeremiah was He wasting His time? If you never read what God said to Jeremiah that is what you are saying. When Christ gave His disciples the great commission He was not talking to the scribes and Pharisees. His disciples had spent three years learning from Him but they weren’t to teach until they received divine power from on high.

Verse 15 through 21
Jesus shows in these scriptures that He doesn’t care about being worshiped by those who want to glory in the flesh. He does want the word of God explained to his disciples. He avoids those who glory in the flesh, (that lasts less than 100 years), and reveals His word to those who believe on His word. His desire to teach His disciples, while avoiding those who are only concerned with pleasing the flesh, He actually walked on water. It is a mistake to limit the Holy Spirit. This planet measures about 25,000 miles at its thickest point. This planet floats in outer space on nothing. It is revolving around a sun that is about 93,000,000 (million) miles away. It takes a year for the earth to orbit the sun. If you divide the distance the earth travels by the time it takes to travel, you find that we are spinning around the sun about 20 times faster than a bullet fired from a high powered rifle. Anyone that can build this can do anything.

Verse 22 through 27
Christ is clearly unimpressed with these people. The only reason they are searching for Christ is to get a free meal. In spite of their short-sighted thinking Jesus still tries to appeal to their intellect. God makes intellectual appeals.

Verse 28 and 29
The only work of God they are interested in will go in their stomachs. God sent Jesus. If you believe in Him you will do what He says.

Verse 30 and 31
He just fed 5,000 people with a lunch meant for a small boy. They really want to eat without providing for themselves. They want free meals for the rest of their natural lives and they are only concerned with this life.

Verse 32 and 33
Moses didn’t provide anyone with manna. Manna only fed the people to feed their bodies a meal. The true manna from Heaven is Jesus. When you eat true manna you never hunger again and when you drink from Christ’s living water you never thirst again. Which is another way of saying all we need to understand God is in the bible and there is no other work that will help understand the bible better. If you understand what you are reading there will be those who think they understand it better even though they have never read it. If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day but if you teach a man to fish you feed him for a lifetime

Verse 34
They still want free food. That must have been some good fish.

Verse 35 through 40
They can’t establish a co-relation between food sustaining the body and using God’s word to make good decisions affecting how your life turns out. If you study the bible it will help you to make better decisions. We should not make emotional decisions. We should think before we act. If the word of God is taught by those who understand, and obeyed by those who listen, this nation might survive.

Verse 41 through 51
Eating Christ flesh and drinking His blood is reading the word of God and letting the Holy Spirit speak to your heart, and making decisions with the intended purpose of pleasing God or avoiding His disfavor. God gives wisdom and appeals to intellect. Satan appeals to emotions. It is always a mistake to make emotional decisions that haven’t been thought out. Sometimes we get to a point in life where we don’t know what would be the best choice. Pleasing God is always the best decision. Eventually pleasing the flesh is going to cost you money

Verse 52 through 59
Christ says we must eat His flesh and drink His blood. Is there a similarity between eating and reading? Is Jesus promoting cannibalism? The flesh profits nothing. Jesus died for the sins of all men throughout all generations. If He had been talking about flesh there would have not been enough for everyone to get a little. Jesus says His blood is the New Testament. Eating food is for the body but reading is mental, food for the spirit. You have to feed both. Most of us enjoy a good meal but accept spiritual nonsense. The bible is the supernatural word of God. Satan has been trying to stop it from being written and now he tries to change it. It has already been canonized and you get new translations only to risk losing your own soul. We should read and heed what Jesus said in Matthew 7:15 and what Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:3 and 4.

Verse 60 through 68
The flesh profits nothing. After all of your failures, successes, down sittings, and uprisings you can follow with a big so what? We all go through the same thing. We come into this world as infants, grow up and have children of our own, grow old and die. None of us are divinities and no one knows everything. Just do the best you can to be as good as you can.

Verse 69 through 71
Christ does not force anyone to do anything. If rewards and punishments were divinely inspired then why will we be judged? It would be unfair to judge us for what we have been punished for already. God’s rewards are with Him so we cannot have them now.
