Jezebel
In the 2nd chapter of Revelation, in the 20th verse God has this against Thyatira, that they let Jezebel teach and seduce God’s servants to yield to fleshly desires. God does not punish Jezebel but does punish her children. Historically who was Jezebel and what is God trying to tell us? We will start historically by looking at the actions of Jezebel and researching who she was. She enters the bible in 1 Kings 16:31 as the Canaanite wife of Ahab the king of Israel. She was of the race that was strictly off limits for the children of Jacob to marry. She was not related to the children of Israel and did not care for them. She used the word of God to kill a man and steal his land. She encouraged obedience to God’s word when it suited her and ignored it when it didn’t. Instead of following God’s word by doing what God wants and avoiding what He hates she used the bible to kill a man and take his land. This pattern was practiced by the Sanhedrin. They added 613 commandments to God’s 10. The traditions of man make the word of God have no effect. The Sanhedrin had no compassion. A man has been a cripple all his life but Jesus heals him and tells him to carry away the mat he was carried on. The Sanhedrin has no concern for the life of shame the man endured; only that 1 of the 613 additions to God’s 10 was being violated. It’s obvious that God was not upset because God had a part in the healing. The disciples were eating kernels of wheat on the Sabbath. The Sanhedrin shows no concern for hunger, only that God’s law may have been violated. Jesus really cared and still cares for all. In the 1st chapter of Mark Jesus shows compassion as He heals a leper. In Matthew 15:32 Jesus shows compassion as he feeds a multitude. God’s spirit in you will have you focus more on what you can give than what you can get. Your Christian walk should make you a positive asset to whoever you are involved with. Back to Jezebel. Often when the bible addresses females it is addressing churches and religion. If the church you are attending cherry picks the bible and does not teach chapter by chapter that ministry should not be supported.
