How to study the bible
The only way to study the bible is chapter by chapter and verse by verse. Reading the bible scriptures in the order God gave the scriptures and letting the bible teach you instead of you getting an emotional response every time that you read a scripture. One verse Charlies who jump from verse to verse often link scriptures together that are not related. They often get things out of context. They are like blind leading the blind. The saddest point to consider is that the one being led has no way of knowing his guide is blind also until calamity occurs and by then it is too late. You cant understand the bible unless you read and study it. The bible is not like any other book, it is the supernatural word of God. To demonstrate its power, read it if you have trouble sleeping at night or if you are troubled by nightmares. If you really want to sleep just put the bible on your chest. The demons will leave you alone. Today the bible is the most quoted yet least understood book in print. Read the word of God and let the Holy Spirit speak to your heart. You will never understand the bible by hearsay.
You will never understand any book if you read the sentences in random order. Also linking scriptures together can be dangerous. Here is an example:

Jesus said, go and do likewise. Luke 10:37
That you do, do quickly John 13:27
