I didn't read the article, I know the point. This is how it works:

Misery loves company. In the big cities, people are used to rules and regulations, everything from barking dogs to late night loud music. Government telling you what to do: Democrats.

In rural areas, you can have a barking dog, a mooing cow, target practice, loud music, cars to tinker with. The problem is when you have those in misery trying to force their rules on those that have more freedoms.

I live in the country and I am a Democrat. How do you "explain" that, anomoli? In general, cities tend to have more registered Democrats, the rural areas, more registered Republicans. To attribute that to rural people being more accepting of differences, which I think you are trying to say, is false. Many rural people are extremely rigid in their ideology. They may not like rules applied to themselves, but they often want to inflict their ideologies on others, esp. people living in the cities. Have you bothered to consider that people in the suburbs, which are usually Republican, have higher incomes and this may be part of the reason for the difference?

I am new to this website, and I'm finding it full of people who would rather throw insults rather than have true discussions on a particular topic.

I'm curious as to what you classify as forced ideology.

Are you referring to being forced to provide morning after pills to 13 year olds without parental consultation ?

Even Obama blinked when it came to that question about his own daughters.

My point being yes I agree that wealthier people tend to be more conservative, but it is this conservative way of living your life that gave them that wealth opportunity not the other way around.

And their is plenty of finger pointing and forced ways of belie in to go around so let's leave those ideas on the bench and discuss ideas without insults.

You are right, Constitutional libertarian. My response was snarky and uncalled for. I don't agree with everything the liberals do, nor do I agree with everything the libertarians do. Certainly I don't agree with giving 13 yr. olds birth control pills without their parent's knowledge. Parents ought to know what medications their children are taking, and whether they are sexually active. I do not agree that people who live in the cities are somehow deficient and therefore, more liberal. That does not make any sense to me. The explanation, therefore, seemed somewhat less than an explanation and more of an observation by the person who made the post. And I truly feel that the observation was incorrect. I also do not believe that people who are conservative are more affluent due to their conservative beliefs. As a liberal, from a fairly wealthy background, I know many people who are very liberal who are far wealthier then I am. However, I could have expressed myself in a more diplomatic way, and for that I apologize.

I accept the apology, followed with a question.

Did your "wealthier" friends get to where they are today through natural intelligence, a good education, hard work and parents who gave them a good moral compass.

Or did they achieve their success I use this term in place of wealth because money isn't always a true judge of a persons stature by being socially liberal?

I believe it is very difficult to achieve success without all of those items I mentioned being in place from a young age.

Do you see these attributes being more prevalent in inner city communities or suburbs/country communities ?

The Only thing I worry about now is letting the ship tzu out at night with out a big dog escort darn coyote's.
