Excellent very interesting.
They serve in so many capacities it's a bit boggling.

Excellent! Especially, the real situation ones, the last three or four were training films, but still good.
Excellent footage of great dogs doing what they were bred and trained to do. Dogs from working lines like this need the right training and handling, but look what can be accomplished.
Thanks for posting this.
OORAH for the Police Canines...great report!

The training is incomplete if the dog has to be torn off the captive. But thanks for the info. Now I know I would never adopt a police dog.

I adopted one. Belgian Malanois are nothing like regular dogs. He is awesome but to strangers he is very dangerous. You will be surprised at how affectionate they are to their owners. But the luv stops there.

Most of the retired police dogs are placed with people who can handle them, not people with five little kids and three cats. These are tough dogs. Yes many are taught the release command, but it is difficult to curb the frenzy that is part of the arrest of the suspect.
By the way most "dog people" do not refer to the placing of a dog or puppy in a new home as adoption, even those who consider their dogs exceptional understand that dogs are not humans with fur (They are better than that) HSUS has used the term adoption as part of their animal rights nonsense, even though they have no shelters do not place dogs, screen potential owners, run obedience classes or anything else for the benefit of dogs. Their goal is the removal of animal-human contact, as all human contact is, according to their propaganda, cruelty.
Anyway you look at it, they are "mans best friend" and earned that admiration and respect from us because of all they do..
The most import, unconditional love....Trained in a specialty or not, they love~~~
