First Train to Hell (Revelation 21:8)
If you were in danger of losing your eternal soul and burning in hell for all eternity, it wouldn’t be fair to let it be a surprise. The Holy Spirit lists those going to hell in Revelation 21:8. If you are doing these things you stop.
1. Cowardly or fearful – When you state the bible as it is written, people deceived by satan will disagree and they will not like you. But you should have on the whole armor of God and be prepared for dirty tricks. Don’t let icy stares intimidate you. If you find scripture that disagrees with popular opinion and keep silent because you don’t want to ruffle any feathers then you will be on the first train to hell.
2. Unbelieving – The Old King James bible took about 2,000 years to be acted out historically. It took another 1500 years for all the writings to be collected into one work. Printing presses weren’t invented until the 1400’s. God went through a lot of trouble and effort to put the bible in your hands. A lot of people lost their lives through torture and execution to read what you have a chance to read. There are some that form beliefs based not on study but hearsay. If you don’t want to believe the bible is the word of God, when God worked through man for centuries it will hurt you more than God. Applying the bible to our lives would help us. Those that don’t believe the bible is the word of God will be on the first train to hell.
3. Abominable – This word is similar to abomination. The idea we need to understand is there are some things that are so disgusting they should not be done. There is a line that should never be crossed. People that will say and do anything will be on the first train to hell.
4. Murderers – God came to this planet and wrote with his finger in stone not to commit murder. If you have no compassion when it comes to taking human life, you will be on the first train to hell. What about the death penalty? God has said in Genesis 9:6, “whoever shed’s man’s blood by man shall his blood be shed”. Protesters of the death penalty show more concern for the murderer than the person murdered. The victim gets no compassion or recognition.
5. Whores and whoremongers – We should not have sex with strangers. We should not cheat on our spouses. If God has blessed your life with sex on the regular, why would you risk bringing a social disease into the relationship? God came to this planet and wrote with His finger in stone not to commit adultery. We should read and obey 1 Corinthians 6:18 and consider whether our circumstances are the fruit and our poor choices the seed.
6. Sorcerers – This is a poor translation. In the Greek the word is pharmakeus from which we derive the word pharmacy. A pharmacy is a drug store. Today we know that junkies will do anything to get high or feel good and that is their primary mission in life. Their priorities are mixed up. Junkies will be on the first train to hell.
7. Idolaters – Before you put yourself in the mindset that idols worship stopped in the old testament, know that American Idol is number one in its time slot every time it is on the air.
8. All Liars – God hates liars. They will be on the first train to hell.
