Feet
This block of instruction is found in John 13:1 through 17. Jesus washes the disciples feet. He washes Judass feet also. When He gets to Peter, Peter thinks highly of Jesus and doesnt want to look at Him as a slave, as slaves normally washed feet. Jesus informs Peter that unless Peter allows Christ to wash his feet Peter will have no part in Him. Peter wants his head and hands washed also. Jesus informs Peter that it is necessary only to wash the feet. What is Jesus trying to teach? Is He talking about flesh, or actually washing feet or is He referring to something spiritual? What is the hidden meaning? Reading John 6:63 we see that the flesh profits nothing. Obviously Jesus is teaching something with a hidden message. How can washing feet have spiritual aspects? What do we know about feet? Your feet are the main part of your body that maintains contact with the earth. At this time most people wore sandals and cars werent invented yet so everyones feet were filthy. When you teach Gods word chapter by chapter, verse by verse, idea after idea, those deceived by satan will disagree with you. The hardest person to teach is one that thinks he knows the subject already. As long as you stay in Christ by never going beyond His word, God will be on your side, but satan will hate you and will us everyone deceived by him against you. We need Jesus to cleanse us, which is another way of saying we must constantly read the bible. People will judge you and try to twist your words and may not understand what you are saying. The chief weapon satan uses is character assassination. He has to appeal to your emotions because his logic is weak and doesnt make sense. Fortunately salvation is not based on success. To abide in Christ we must read the bible and never go beyond it.
