Feeding the 5000
This is the only miracle that the Holy Spirit put in all four gospels. It is in Matthew 14:13 through 21, Mark 6:31 through 44, Luke 9:12 through 17, and John 6:1 through 14. Another miraculous feeding is in Matthew 15:32 through 39 and Mark 8:1 through 9. In this feeding the multitude is smaller and Luke doesn’t mention it at all. In all five miracles the multitude following Jesus is hungry but only a small boy has brought a lunch. Jesus takes the lunch and breaks it into pieces and gives the food to his disciples and the disciples feed the multitude. Is the Holy Spirit trying to reveal something by mentioning this miracle five times? Of course, remember that man doesn’t live by bread alone but by every word that God has spoken. In these cases a multitude is fed with a lunch meant for a small boy. Christ divides or breaks up the food and you wind up with more left than you started with. You should read your bible. Listening to feel good stories will profit you nothing. Christ is not interested in making you a better you, (whatever that means) or helping you finds a mate. Jesus only speaks through His word and does not micro-manage. Applying God’s word to your life will equip you to deal with any circumstances. God’s word is a light unto your feet and a lamp unto your path. What does this mean? During daylight hours you can see all around. But at night you need a flashlight and you can only see what the light shines on. If we make decisions with the goal of pleasing God or avoiding God’s disfavor it can only be a benefit to your life. Even though satan hates your guts and will use those deceived by him to convince you that you have a bad philosophy. God’s word will help you make better decisions.
