Defilement 2
First read Isaiah 29:13. Jesus adds words to Isaiah 29:13 in Matthew 15:9 and Mark 7:7. The words are “in vain they worship”. When the bible says vain what does it mean? Let’s look in James 1:23 and 24. We all look in the mirror and see a reflection. But when we walk away we forget what we look like. We really wasted our time looking at an image that it would do us no good to remember. Vanity is wasting your time. We waste time and have a lot of it and it is neither good nor bad to waste it. In fact it takes time to learn and most lessons in life can’t be taught in a classroom setting. It has to be lived. After high school it took about ten years to unlearn all the bull I had been taught as a child and enjoy adulthood. Let’s go back to scripture. The worship of God without doing what he says is a waste of time.
