15th Psalm

Forward

For bible study you will need a King James Bible. Read the verse or verses then read the comments. As we come in and out of each other’s lives we use different criteria to esteem certain people. It may be looks, talent, personality, or the ability to tell a joke; but what does God look at?

Verse 1

When God returns some will be accepted but sadly will be rejected.

Verse 2

This answers the question. These are things we do to please God. If your praise doesn’t include obedience, you are wasting your time. It doesn’t matter how many people like to hear you sing you still can’t smoke crack.

Verse 3

These are actions we avoid because God doesn’t like them. If you want to please anybody doing what they like and avoiding what they hate is a good way to start.

Verse 4a

I’ll get some help from Paul. Read II Corinthians 6:14-18 and I Corinthians 5:9-11.

Verse 4b

The one time most of us make a vow in front of God and man and later come to regret our decision is when we marry. I may lose a lot before I get started but here goes. Read Numbers 30:1, 2, then Deuteronomy 23:21 – 23, and finally Ecclesiastes 5:4 – 6. You can see that if you make a vow, God expects you to fulfill your promise.

Verse 5a

This is an open condemnation of lotteries and other forms of gambling.

Verse 5b

We are in the world not of the world. Our success should not come at someone else’s expense.

5c

This doesn’t nothing will happen to you, only that it won’t matter much.
