Is that not what I said? Are you trying to call me out as siding with one or the other? Or are you affirming what I said as valid?

Your response makes no sense in any context I can figure out.

How about going to a $100,000 a plate dinner, arriving in limosines, to hear someone talk about defunding programs that help the poor? But I get your point, archie. May I call you Archie?

Generally, it seems that the further out in each party we go, we find those extremes that get (going to go English in spelling here) generalised to all on either side. Liberal far out there tend to be nutty, far out conservatives mean. Fine men of character on both sides of the aisle are here and in Washington. They speak softly--and the cacophany and fireworks of the meanies and the nutties drown them out.

It is natural to pay more attention to the squeaky wheel. Haha, and then those that call for moderation and concensus, to work together, are castigated as lacking in principles: "if you were truly a liberal or conservative you would let this country and the people rot to prove a point." If not continually spewing invectives and name calling, it seems, loyalty and character are called into question. That is the real "down the rabbit hole" madness we see today.

Of course you can call me Archie. May I point out that you forgot to mention the private jets that delivered them to the limosines? I cannot disagree with you on this. I would prefer not to have a label. I'm just me. We should help the poor as much as we can as long as they are trying to help themselves. It seems like we have a completely dysfunctional system with a bunch of huge egos running the show. No common sense.

Totally agree. Thank you, Archie, nice to be on a first name basis. You can call me rumi or Tom, my given.

There have been times in the past when we have disagreed most vehemently. Those times have gotten heated. Sometimes one or the other of us has crossed the line, and the other retaliated in kind.

I preface with the above because you have said something with which I have to agree with you. I have said in other posts of mine and seen others do the same and finally realize that my first impressions of you may have been biased based on previous postings. There are i***ts on both sides, here and in Washington. Those of us who try to be rational are constantly inundated with the irrational rants of the nuts on both sides. Unfortunately, we are outnumbered.

Thank you for submitting a post that allowed me to reevaluate my understanding of you and I hope that while we will still disagree, we can do it in a more amicable manner than has been done in the past.

At first I was not going to reply to this because while I agreed with you, nothing more, at that time, needed to be said. Upon reflection, regardless of which side a person is on, if they deserve kudos from you, you should give it to them.

Greetings and salutations, and I hope that while we will disagree in the future, this will begin the foundation of a bridge upon which both of us may one day stand within arms reach to shake hands and call truce.

Democrats can't really help the poor or b****s at this point, it would show that for the 40 years they didn't givea damn.

Thank you Rumi! There has to be some middle ground here. Everyone wants to be right. We're losing our country is all I know.

Wow, thank you very much. but talking about kudos, you really should have them all. Being the first to reach across the aisle is, to me, a great show of character. God bless. Of course we will disagree in the future but your gesture makes this an American debate: a respect for and appreciation of the differerneces that helped to make us stronger. Nicely done, my friend.

God, yes, archie. It is really painful. So very different when I was young.
