Abortion and the valley of Hinnon
First read Jeremiah 7:31, 19:5, and 32:35. There were many idols that were thought to be something when in actuality they were nothing and did not exist. Gentile nations were so serious about idolatry that they would kill their own children to show their dedication to what was really something useless. God addresses idols and idolatry in the 41st, 44th, and 46th chapters of Isaiah. In Jeremiah 10:11 God is quoted as saying, “the gods that have not made Heaven and earth shall die”. The truth is they were never alive. What God was saying is one day they will be seen for what they were, (which was nothing). Psalms 115:4 – 8 and 135:15 – 18 clearly describe the uselessness of idolatry. Before you say America is smarter take this into consideration, American Idol is number one in its timeslot every time it is on the air. This is the methodology for child sacrifice; the idol would be built standing erect with his arms bent at the elbows at a 90 degree angle. This would form a makeshift altar to place a sacrifice. They would place infant children in the hands of the idol and burn a piece of wood under the child. Drums would be played to drown out the screams of the dying child. Three times in Jeremiah God says not only did He never command this to be done, but that even He never thought of it. Before we start thinking that we are smarter today let’s take a fact into consideration: America has murdered over 53,000,000 (million) infants. Six million Jews were killed in World War II and that is referred to as a holocaust. Genocide is where one nation slays a large portion of another nation. In America about as many babies are killed in one year as soldiers have died in every war this country has fought since the revolution. Much has been said about the injustice of lynching. In the history of this country around 5,000 people were lynched. A little less than a million babies are murdered each year. They don’t get a funeral, a name, nobody cries for them.
