The United States is the most powerful nation on earth, and yet we are the only nation on earth that DOES NOT take care of their elderly. WHY?

That is a very good question, I wish I had an answer.

I am unaware of it being my nation's responsibility to take care of the elderly. Nor am I aware that all other nations take care of their elderly. Tell me, how does Yemen tak care of its elderly?

Why don't you research it and get back to the forum?

No, unlike the conservatard teabags who h**e America, and constantly whine and complain like a broken record, I am quite happy with my life style, my station in life, my ability to help those less fortunate than myself, and the general direction of the country. I don't fear the government taking my guns, I don't think the tax burden is too great, I want this country to provide a health plan that benefits most of the the people.

I think you are asking the wrong question in the wrong way. In many other countries, the elderly are taken care of by their own family members. The children in other countries have their parents living with them for many years through many generations. They may resent doing it, but they do it because it is natural and right. Their parents took care of them when they needed it, why should they not care for their parents in the end.

Ask yourself why American families think it is better to put their elderly family members into homes outside their own residences?

I can answer that question for myself right here right now. My mother has made it impossible to live with her. She has pushed myself and my sister away from us because of her violent behavior and her attitude, both when we were young, and now when we are both well into our 40's. Our father is deceased so I do not have that problem with which to deal.

While my reasons may not be valid to some, some will understand what it is like to be expected to take care of an abusive parent.

Barring that, even in families where they were not dysfunctional, it is a trademark of the American individual to want to take care of themselves for the most part, with no expectation from others for assistance. Many elderly parents are made to feel like intruders into the family lives of their children. That may be another reason, the elderly do not want to be a bother to their children.

Also, remember that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are out there to take care of the elderly.

We have a screwed up system. We have a continuum of dysfunctionality in the family unit.

Another question to ask yourself is: what do I really mean by this question.
After reading it, I just started writing my response. But as I was writing this response, I asked myself why you were asking the question. How are we not taking care of the elderly in this country that is done so much better in other countries? What do they do differently? How are they better?
Some substance to your inquiry is required here.

Why is it the responsibility of the country to provide a health plan at all, let alone one that benefits most of the people? Why should it not benefit all people in this country equally? Is that not what the Liberal agenda is about? E******y in outcome for all?

You do agree that not all other nations care for their elderly in a manner conducive to continued "elderly" status.

I love America. It provides an environment where I can reap the rewards of my own choices. I don't whine about suffering the consequences of my bad decisions, and I don't want to pay for your lifestyle consequences.

You want a health care plan that benefits most of the people any yet you support Obamacare, blindly, because most of us are against it. Oh yes, many more are against it, or parts of it, than are for it.

But BoClown did say that he doesn't pay such high taxes and that is what we use to pay for Medicare along with taxes from all of us, even the people who collect on Medicare.

I am waiting for BoClown to tell us how great life for the elderly is these days. I am 80 and my life isn't bad but the monstrous inflation that is coming isn't here yet. I can't wait to see how many elderly living by themselves because they want to can't afford electricity because of the EPA's latest rules. Obama approved rules, I might add.

I'm not looking forward to that, at least not in a "drooling with anticipation" sort of way. And I'm not "elderly," except to six year olds.

I think that Soylent Green will belong to us when Agenda 21 takes over.
