CNNs Sally Kohn Gets Fact Checked on Column about 10,000 Children K**led with Guns--80j., b12-2
As I've pointed out before, gun grabbers and hoplophobes are constantly lying in order to demonize guns or demonize gun owners. But facts are stubborn things, and it seems that CNN's Sally Kohn is finding this out the hard way after she was fact checked concerning her outrageous claim that 10,000 children are k**led by guns every year.
Keep in mind that Kohn thinks that 10,000 children k**led by firearms must require passing "the most measly common sense safety laws," but when it comes to the hundreds of thousands of babies that are dismembered, burned and crushed to death, both in and out of their mother's womb, and their parts sold to research companies, Kohn is strangely silent.
Kohn says that she got her statistics of 10,000 children being k**led by guns from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Yet, she failed to link to her source.
Radio host John Cardillo read her column and pointed out that she was completely out to lunch, even providing her FBI crime statistics from 2014. According to the FBI crime statistics provided, 11,961 total homicides occurred in 2014. However, instead of the 10,000 number provided by Kohn, the real number of victims under 18 was only 1,085 for the entire year!
Kohn lied. 2014 FBI Stats 11,961 total homicides. Only 1,085 victims under 18. Not 10,000 by gun.

Keep in mind that, according to several reports I have seen, more than half of that number are young gang members shooting each other. Yes, the gun banners would like to give the impression that they are three year olds murdered by 6 year olds who got a gun accidentally.
That reminds me of the statistic that says that more than half of all dog bites are from "pit bulls" even though most dog bites are by mixed breed dogs, who may have some genes from a bull terrier breed somewhere in their background, but may have even more cocker spaniel genes, but that would not make headlines. The gun banners are often the "pit bull" banners to, the t***h is of no importance to them.
Fact: Kohn's article stated that 10,000 children are k**led or "injured" by guns each year!
Fact: Gunshot wounds send 20 children to the hospital every day!

Only 1,085? Man what a hoot! A thousand dead children is nothing. Not even worth writing about...
That adds up to 7300 dickhead.
You have to read the article. First, the author of that piece classifies everyone under 20 as a child. When you look at the under 15 age group, the number of injuries per day drops to THREE!
As a comparison, sports-related injuries accounted for one in five (22.0 percent) of 1.4 million visits to the ED for injuries among children aged 5 to 17 years in 2006 in the 25 states included in this brief (table 1). In other words, 308,000 cases of ER visits by children, or 843 per day, were related to sports injuries, in 2006. That gives some real life perspective of your post.
