Clinton faces challenge in winning over young women--47eh., b43
She also strongly believes that other millennial women feel the same way. “We’re not necessarily going to v**e for someone just because they’re a woman,” she said in an interview. “A lot of us are just trying to look at the candidate.”Shadle represents a potential problem for the Clinton campaign amid weeks of favorable headlines: The Democratic front-runner has a weakness with millennials.
An NBC News/SurveyMonkey poll released on Friday showed Sanders, an independent senator from Vermont who is running as a Democrat, received 48 percent of support from young v**ers between the ages of 18-29, compared to Clinton’s 33 percent.
. The historic nature of Clinton’s campaign doesn’t resonate with millennial women the same way it does with other women, say strategists, because young woman believe someone will break the Oval Office glass ceiling even if it doesn’t happen in 2016.
“To them it seems obvious and indisputable that if Clinton doesn’t win, some other woman will, and soon,” one Democratic strategist and Clinton supporter said, adding that Clinton seems “too old, too moderate and too caught up in another time.”Peter Hart, a top Democratic pollster, said millennial women are more “enamored” with Sanders partly because of Clinton’s personality.
Katherine Jellison, a professor of women’s history at Ohio University, argues that, in some respects, it’s a generational issue.
“She’s your mom’s candidate,” Jellison said. “She and the Clinton machine seem like old news to a lot of millennials. And if you think about where youthful activism has been —other than L**T issues — it really hasn’t been with g****r issues but class issues, like the Occupy movement.”
Clinton allies say she will also articulate issues pertaining to young women, including equal pay, Planned Parenthood, immigration and gun control, while finding creative avenues to reach the demographic.
“We will continue working to make sure her policies and priorities are reaching young women and that they know that Hillary is fighting for them,” one Clinton aide said.
In 2008, Obama captured 66 percent of v**ers under 30.
Susan Carroll, a senior scholar at the Center for American Women and Politics of the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University, said millennial women have rallied around Sanders for much the same reason they were drawn to Barack Obama.
Shadle, who was born in 1992, the year Bill Clinton won the White House, says she’s supporting Sanders because there’s a “consistency and authenticity” to him that she hasn’t seen with Clinton.

It is likely that her daughter, husband and people like Katie Perry will jump on board to widen her appeal to young women. She is up in the primarys and realy dosnt have much threat from Sanders. In the general it is still a toss up between candidates. I am thinking Rubio as republican nominee, Trump as an independent and Clinton as democrat. Rubio could pick up some of the young female v**e in the bible belt. Trump will do as well with young women as George Wallace did with black v**ers. And unless something huge changes Hillary Clinton will be your next president.

Only if Trump goes Independent. If he does I believe he will lose about half his support. Hillary can't hardly get above 42% nationally. In a debate against either Cruz or Rubio she would get slaughtered.

I know you are a lefty so you can rail all day about the evil Republicans. Just tell us all one time what you believe Hillary will do for this country.

Hillary will likely be a care taker president, perhaps not the greatest but head and shoulders above a guy like Cruz. She will nominate at least one and likely more justices to the Supreme Court aming the court in a more middle of the road course that matches American values. She will pursue diplomacy combined with prudent use of the military. She will not exploit xenophobia to further her goals. My preference would have been Biden but he choose not to run. Sanders would be the best thing overall for the future of our nation but while he has traction with some Democratic primary v**ers I understand he has little chance in the general with as many anti intellectuals as we have in this country. I will v**e for the most destructive republican candidate in the primary in the hopes of a Trump independent run and Support Clinton as the signifigant lesser of evils in the general. Not a great endorsement, but a choice that will slow down the right wing facist war on our country.

Spoken like a true troll. Thanks. You might want to look at the world right now. Her idea of diplomacy isn't working real well. Just sayen.

What the hell do you mean by care taker president? Give you free meds or what? What a parasite.
Court is not middle of the road. The supposed most Conservative judge, Roberts helped Obama pass the most destructive law ever.
Diplomacy = B******i. I'm sure Stevens family is giving thanks today for Hillary.
Rubio, Cruz, Trump and Carson all are beating Hillary in latest polls. Her only chance is Trump runs Independent.
You don't care that she is a proven liar? Doesn't bother you that she flip flops her positions monthly? You aren't bothered that she is a Wall Street Crony and part of the 1%?
You don't care that she has an abysmal record on women's rights?
You are so indoctrinated without any moral compass I feel sorry for you. The morale decay we see in America today is not as much about the politician but the lemming like followers of said politician.

Like it or not it is pretty obvious that Trump is a megalomaniac r****t suggesting things that parallel Hitlers plans for a Third Reich, if he is elected he will unite the democrats and republicans in congress in a common goal of stoping his abject nonsense. Cruz is essentially Sara Palin with an education he is well spoken but his ideas are nuts, genuine bible thumping fire and brimstone crazy. Carson is pretty much a flash in the pan his numbers are crashing. Rubio is the only one of the bunch with a lick of common sense, he is the one that could give Clinton a run for the money. As you can see he has successfully driven a stake through Jebs chest. Rubio at this juncture looks like the real republican choice they just need to destroy Trump so thoroughly he won't go third party. Or run as Hillary's VP!

Nice lies as usual. What we expect from you. Imagine you calling someone else nuts. I put up a topic once about Cruz and not one of you left wingnuts could come up with an example of Cruz being crazy or out there. I noticed it doesn't bother you to support an amoral POS like Hillary.

Here is just a small sample of the nonsense Cruz spouts, he is a nut to all but a small slice of the American population.

Cruz’s campaign launch was an overt attempt to reach out to the farthest right of the fringe, and the craziest true believers among the GOP base. Cruz shouldn’t have much trouble convincing them that he’s one of them, given some of the crazy things he believes.

Ted Cruz launched his f**e filibuster against Obamacare by claiming that failing to fight the implementation of Obamacare was akin to appeasing Adolf Hitler, and anyone who didn’t support his plans to stop health care reform were like Neville Chamberlain.
Cruz once told a group of conservatives, “You no longer have a president,” because Barack Obama had implemented health care reform in a “lawless” way.
Cruz told ABC’s Jonathan Karl that he believed the GOP could repeal Obamacare with Obama still in office.
When he was running for the Senate, Cruz said that Texas should let the uninsured get health care from emergency rooms.
Cruz promised to “uphold the sacrament of marriage” as president.
Cruz claimed that court rulings in favor of same-sex marriage are “a real threat to our liberty.”
Cruz claimed that Houston pastors may soon be “hauled off to jail for a h**e crime,” due to the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance.
Cruz’ father, Rafael Cruz, may be as much of an asset to his son’s campaign as a thorn in its side. The senior Cruz has a record of staying things so outrageous that Ted Cruz at one time denied his father spoke for him, even was his aide was booking dad’s gigs.
Cruz claimed that legislation to protect access to a******n services is “a manifestation of the war on women.”
Cruz said the Democrats seeking to amend the constitution to give Congress the power to regulate campaign financing were really out to “expressly repeal the free-speech protections of the First Amendment.”
Cruz also derided “Farenheit 451 Democrats,” claiming that a proposed campaign finance amendment shows that liberals wanted to ban and burn books.
Cruz claimed the amendment to get money out of politics would “censor” Saturday Night Live, and “Lorne Michaels (of Saturday Night Live) could be put in jail under this amendment for making fun of any politician.”
Cruz also claimed that the amendment to repeal Citizens United would “muzzle” pastors.
Cruz called the standoff between the Bureau of Land Management and supporters of scofflaw and r****t rancher Cliven Bundy, the “unfortunate and tragic culmination of the path that President Obama has set the federal government upon.”
Cruz claimed that the United Nations/George Soros “Agenda 21” would “abolish ‘unsustainable’ environments, including golf courses, grazing pastures, and paved roads.”
