James 1:2-4

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

My Bible carries an explanation of temptations as trials, we are being tried to strengthen our faith, to teach us to lean on the Lord, to listen to that wee small voice of caution. Because you believe in God, do you just expect He will baby you, and never let you be exposed to Satan's temptations? Jesus was tempted, we are made aware of that during the period after his baptism.

Are we strong enough to face the temptations in life, and the hard knocks that leave us feeling beaten? Can you walk away from evil, after a fall, or a trail? Are you strong enough to pick yourself up, and move forward in faith? The disciples were ordinary men. James 5:17 says "Elijah was a man with a nature like ours." If the ordinary person, in Bible days, was able to keep the faith, but you feel weak, than do spend more time in the Bible, and in prayer. It may help to find a prayer partner. God is quick to forgive and pick you up.

Remember - "if He leads you to it, He will lead you through it."

A personal story about James 1:2 - We were studying James in a Bible class. During that time, I went down in our crawl space to look for something. One end of the crawl space is way over my head, then it has a sharp incline. I made a misstep and fell, hitting my back against a wood pallet. As I sat there, I looked up and this verse crossed my mind - "Count it all joy when you FALL into troubles." I had to laugh, thank the Lord because nothing was broken, and got up. I did not find what I had gone down looking for, but I came away finding the grace of God had protected me from serious injury.

Thank you so much, Slats, and enjoy every bite of food you see on the table - and may it only make you sleepy.

"Ye count it all joy" when a person is healed enough for such a thing to be natural, not before.
