Anybody who goes down a mountain on skies like that is crazy and should be hospitalized. It also makes my stomach queasy just watching them go down that mountain on skies.

I once dated a man who was an expert skier; good enough to be a member of a couple of clubs that competed with foreign ski clubs. He told me of a time when they were challenged by a German club. The Germans were exercising the night before while his club was enjoying Courvoisier half way through the night and were still a bit stoned at the beginning of the race. He claimed his team won because they were still in a condition not to care and could be very brave. Courvoisier came to be known as "ski juice."

He signed me up for classes and, like everyone else, I began on the Bunny Slope. I soon discovered that the Bunny Slope was the most dangerous place on H****r Mountain and switched over to Intermediate. I only skied for two seasons because I was still earning my living as a professional dancer and could not afford an accident.

I cannot understand why some people will challenge their own lives for this type of adventure. I still believe that the best part of skiing is the "apres ski."
