I am familiar with the forests of the Pacific Northwest, Back in the 70s I worked in the agricultural chemical business and was doing research to control the tussock moth. Spent many hours in choppers as an observer during spray operations. The majority of the pines in the PNW are in the spruce pine family and are harvested for different purposes than the pines here in the southeast. I know they do a lot of replanting following harvesting or after major fires so you are probably correct. :-D
