I don't understand

Hi I am new just call me Cherokee. I am sorry, but I do not understand alot of the liberal view. I can not live beyond my means or my ability to meet my bills. Why do the liberals feel this is no problem for the government? The only difference between us as individuals and the government is the amount of dollars involved. I have no problem helping someone who needs help and is working at trying to improve their position. However, when they quit making an effort but want me to continue to help them they will find I am no longer there. The problem as I see it the government passes laws supposedly to help some people, with no management goals to be obtained. Name me one program the government has ever run successfully.

Welcome aboard and hang onto your seat the ride can become bumpy at times. The other problem with government is that it then steals the money from those who don't want to contribute to these causes in the form of taxes. Whats worse id that if you dare protest and not pay your taxes you get thrown in jail. I do not believe that this is the form of government that our founding fathers had in mind. Oh and a reminder please use the "quote reply" tag at the bottom of the quotes that you want to respond to. This gives everybody a chance to know to who and what you are responding to. Thanks and again welcome aboard. Oh and by the way the name that you want to be called "Cherokee" is that because they are your ancestors and you are one?

Well the government is extremely good at spending money they don't have!!! But you are correct. I work as a volunteer in a United Way organization. We have people demand serevices from us but will not volunteer 4 hours a week to help us out. As a result the volunteers work many hours sometimes w/o breaks. I cannot understand why the people drawing social services cannot be tasked to do some sort of community work.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride. In the future please use the "quote reply" tag at the bottom of the post you are answering so that the rest of us know to whom and what you are talking about. First off I think it should be mandatory that if you services from a particular organization that you put in the time sort of like a job kind of thing you know. These people have gotten so used to living off of the public dole that they think this is owed them for strictly being alive and gracing us with their presence.

Stephen:

I fully agree with your position on volunteerism. I volunteer for a law enforcement agency and it's difficult to find committed (and talented) retired volunteers. Like so many of these organizations, the 90/10 rule applies. 10% of the people do 90% of the work.

Getting back to the original string, the government does overspend. Too much cost and too many tax loopholes that never get filled. The real challenge is identifying programs, departments, entitlements, etc. that can be reduced or eliminated without causing too much upheaval. It's a great concept as a nebulous one, but the devil is always in the details. What to cut and by how much????

welcome aboard, the main thing you should understand is liberals are so jealous of any one that has exerted themselves and accomplished something they think they must punish them because it makes them look bad, which of course they are
