The part of me that so enjoys the absurd just can't help the peals of laughter despite the pain some feel after this.

This dipsy doodle said he was sorry so, of course, no charges are filed.
What the heck?

As one with a "CCP," I see a HUGE problem with someone so negligent in their responsibility toward carrying their weapon safely. I wil, say that there are some pistols that don't have a trigger/safety lock. I own and carry one. However, I don't have a round chambered and ready for firing, either. That way, should I drop the weapon, there no way for it to discharge. Of course, I carry it in such a manner that any action to pull it would be deliberative toward pulling it as its holster isn't attached/connected to anything else on my person.

That this person was able to leave the scene, scott-free, only shows how far up the NRA's butt many in our law enforcement, legal system and legislatures are. Our "rights" only extend to the trips of our noses. Beyond that, then you're interfering with another's right(s). I hope the other victims sue the hell out of that guy. If for no other reason than he makes the rest of us with a CCP look bad. I can do that without anyone else's help.

Nice to see you, alabuck. Hope all has been well.
It isn't gun ownership that is the problem with people like this, it is carelessness.
No doubt it has been happening for years and we just didn't hear about it prior to the push for greater regulation requirements and training.
I tend to think this particular situation was probably more "good ol' boy" than NRA influence, who knows?

Thanks, jelun! I had my right hip totally replaced this past Tuesday. Other than a "clot scare" yesterday, that proved to be nothing but over-use of the joint, I'm doing far better than last July when I had my left hip replaced; and, that surgery was far ahead of expectations. Heck, I even got to come home a whole day early. I went in at 6 AM, this past Tuesday and left the hospital at noon in Wednesday. I give God the glory for the success of my surgeries.

I have no doubt your assessment of the incident has merit. But, my experience has taught me that where the NRA has a very high amount of political influence (as it has in Tennessee), the more "good ol boy" events occur. Plus, the super-majority GOPTP legislature has made it hard for individuals to sue in cases such as this.

I'd like to see the NRA declared "terrorist organization." Via the NRA's political influence nationwide, many of the mass shooters have been able to obtain the weapons they used in their shooting sprees. There's absolutely no reason why anyone who desires to own a gun should be allowed to get one. Nor should guns be allowed in schools.

Contrary to NRA propaganda, "the more people with guns, the safer one is," isn't true. It just means more bullets are flying around with more opportunities for people to be injured or killed. Unless one has experience in how to operate in concert with fellow gun-carriers in the event of a fire-fight with bad guys, the odds of success are nil to none. No matter how many guns you're carrying, if I draw my weapon first and point it at you, I'm the one in control of the situation. And, if I shoot you, you're no longer a threat to me. In fact, I now have access to your guns, too. Why is it that none of the gun-nuts on here want to address is simple fact?

No doubt you are much more aware of the working of both the NRA and "good ol' boys" than I. Acceptance and support of each is probably a regional and (hmmm) population issue. I do think that most of the NRA's monetary support comes from business organizations rather than individual members and that the PR arm is a representation of those interests.
I can certainly understand those who are in rural areas wanting to maintain their ability to hunt, my SIL uses a cross bow and would be seriously perturbed if anyone wanted to control his use of that.

I am happy to hear that this surgery went well, I have to admit that I remembered that you mentioned something but couldn't remember what.
So when I read your post, I thought "oh, of course."
I think I am going to have to have my right done within a year or so. Maybe doing that will even the length of my legs!

Your statements about being in control and the difficulty of some to understand that reminds me of the other argument used so often. The piece about only criminals having guns, there are plenty of criminals who have weapons now and LOTS of them. There was a man who was arrested recently who has thousands of guns, most procured illegally.
Maybe he was just a hoarder.

Here's hoping your recovery continues to go well. Keep up those exercises! Best wishes.
