Lets see now and writing checks will not deplete ones bank account. Or how about write as many checks as you want and the bank won't mark them "insufficient funds". I think that the ones that believe that are members of OI******s choom gang. We have been getting fed bulls**t long enough it is about time we woke up and smelled the coffee.

The mere act of raising the debt ceiling doesn't increase the debt, but the second it is reached, it DOES, and his comment amounts to flim-flam with a teensy bit of honesty attached. Our politicians have no self-control and no true integrity - if the debt ceiling was raised to Heaven, they'd overspend it before the ink on the bill was dry.

I think more in line with Credit Cards where the Card has a Limit (a Debt Ceiling) & you can't spend over that. Raising the Limit ALLOWS you to Increase your Debt.
