I keep hearing that we have to accept obamacare because its the law of the land, but no one can answer my question. Why don't the politicians that v**ed for it, have to abide by it?

I guess what they really meant to say was it is the law of the land as they see it. It is being set up more as the law of the masters over the servants. Right now in America we are the servants to the masters in Washington DC and every day they do things to make sure that not only do we know it but that we don't forget it either. But there will come a day when the servants will once again have victory over the supposed masters and it won't be pretty.

The irony of that is even greater - what is being implemented is not what was enacted into law. Obama is implementing what he now seems to want the law to say, not what it said.

This is a real thorn in my side since by all intents and purposes it is unconstitutional for a governing body to exclude itself from anything that is required by the populace. This becomes a totalitarian enactment when only those outside of the government are subject to a law. (please do not turn this into an ABATE discussion because I said that). The constitution does not allow the government to exclude itself from being subject to any law that the population must follow. Let's stay on that course. The problem is the Executive Order in Obama's interpretation. An executive order is meant to provide the president a means by which they can by-pass congress and the regular law making process to the benefit of the population as a whole. Such as Nixon using it to create NOAA, or Bush's executive order that combined numerous law enforcement agencies to create homeland security. It is not meant to be used as a means to promote one's own agenda. This is just another example of Obama using his power to make an end run around the constitution. The constitution's meaning is not "unclear" it does not require "more interpretation", as Obama's mouthpieces have claimed. The government works for us, not the other way around but this action seems to prove that this is not the case.

Darn, wish I had kept that link but I recently believe I read that they will have to abide by it. I'll try to find where I read that.

Found it. Started to write "is congress..." and the first suggestion was "is congress exempt from obamacare?"

I'm with you on this. They should have to, but keep trying to wiggle out of it.

They get their insurance through their employer (the federal gov't) which subsidizes their insurance costs. Of course, that's us. And if it's good enough for us it should be good enough for them.

Ok, the Washington Post is a liberal news source, factcheck.org is though claiming conservative is a libertarian based publication, and freedomworks.org is funded by the Annenberg Foundation who are the same people that fund PBS, CPB, and are major fundraisers for the Democratic Party. Major contributors to Barack Obama. Forgive me if I do not trust these sources.

Actually even factcheck leaves a lot to be desired - its initial funding was from the Annenberg Foundation - which is the same foundation that funded Obama and his terrorist friend in their work with the Chicago school system. Also, factcheck has a history of taking their opinions as facts when criticizing others - just look at their recent article about Obamacare.

This is just a stupid. If the lawmakers have insurance through their employer (they do), they are in compliance with the law. After they leave, if they have no health insurance, they will need to purchase it or pay a fine. If their income is low enough, they can get assistance to purchase insurance.

I wish it were true, but I really don't think the American people have the stomach for it.
I think we are doomed.

When they realized that they and their staff were required to be covered by the ACA (they v**ed for it without even reading it), they quickly exempted themselves...pure selfishness! The ones who v**ed for the exemption should be recalled or at least not re-elected!
