Agreed, but it goes beyond that - today's liberal Democrat practices a form a r****m every bit as bad as the post-contruction period - they are totally dependent on keeping a large proportion of b****s v****g mindlessly Democratic, and to do so they need to keep them thinking, and as much as possible really, dependent on others - the government - for their existance.

I'd have to know more about that critical thinking course in, I'm guessing, Texas? I'm all for teaching students how to think critically, but I suspect in the case of public schools that it may be just more liberal doublespeak which really means groupthink.

However, this is the first I've heard of it so I cannot state an informed opinion.

Do you seriously think you are not taking Jindal out of context? If you, you've lost a lot my respect - up until now I thought you were serious, just misguided.

Although unaware of the specfics of the "critical thinking" being banned in Texas, let me tell you a simple reality - during the years my sons were in school I had the experience of having them attend public school in 3 states - NY, Texas and California. Heads and shoulders - Texas provided better education.

Meanwhile - if you are going to talk about education, how can you ignore the public education in places like Newark, Camden, Philly, Chicago - all places totally controlled by liberal Democrats and all unable to educate the majority of their students.

Chardo - In 2005 Sir Richard Branson, as the owner of Virgin Airlines, was concerned about the price of jet fuel and began researching it. He concluded that the problem was not lack of crude oil, but the lack of refining capacity. He then began plans to build his own refinery.

Shortly after that he was visited by Al Gore and Ted Turner. After speaking with them, he decided to drop his plans for a refinery and instead invested the money in Virgin Galactic.

Chardo, you cant quit. I forbid it. I have come to enjoy seeing the world from a lefty on the east coast. we will most likely be opposite for ever, but that doesnt mean we cant learn from each other. Learning isnt believing the other guys opinions, its learning why they think as they do, and what might be the same, just hidden behind bulls**t party politics.

Several years ago, before all the major networks became partisan pushers of progressive politics (hmm, that has a nice ring to it), 60-Minutes did a story about the younger generation, I think they called them "The Millennials". They described them as the youngest being in grade school and the oldest in their mid-20's. They are the first generation to have grown up with widespread access to computers and the internet. They are the first generation to have never ridden in a car without seatbelts or ridden a bicycle without a helmet. They are also the first of the trophy generation, those who receive awards not for excellence, but for participation. They are the first to have the vast majority of their lives scripted by organized events, such as school, soccer, little league, non-school classes such as dancing, karate, etc. as opposed to just h*****g out/playing with friends. Finally, they are the first generation among whom the majority, as teenagers, actually like their parents and are eager to please them.

In college they've been given surveys asking what their future goals are. For the first time since these surveys started decades ago, the prevailing answer was "I want to be a highly contributing member of my team". For all other previous generations the prevailing answer to that questions was "I want to be the best [fill in the blank] in my field".

That tells me that the educational system in this country is successfully attempting to brainwash students against individuality. That is both dangerous and insidious. Throughout history, the vast majority of major breakthroughs were made by individuals, not committees.

Jimmy Kimmel sends staffers to ask people on the street what they think about Barack Obama pardoning the sequester and sending it to Portugal, which makes no sense at all. Despite that, these libs think that it's a good idea, simply because they were told Obama did it.
