He'd talk to Joe Heller, Catch 22 author, in private and a little to Kuo C Li, both residents of my home town, and Li a client and a very very interesting man. Joe is burried about 75 ft. from Dad, and has the military issjue headstone. It is inscribed with his vitals and one additional line "There was only one catch". But he'd never fully open up with family about the war. And yes, I live in a town infested with rich and well know, Jackson "Jack the Dripper" Pollock, Childe Hassan , Willlem "Bill"de Kooning, "Cappy" Amundsen, John Steinbeck, and many more artists live and lived here. I met Marilyn Monroe thre, Charles Addams cartooniist of the Adams Fam ily lived here , helll, even Bill O'Reilly lives here, as does the billionaire Pearlman , Mick Jeager of the Rolling Stones lives here from time to time, Steve Boone from the Lolvin' Spoonful lived here and graduated a year ahead of me from the same highschool. Paul McCartney stays here fron time to time, Billy Joel lives a few miles from my house and drives a Russian repro of a BMW twin 500ccMC with side car.The unwritten rule is no local EVER EVER asks for an autograph or takes a photo unasked for or offered by the celebrity. Despite an influxof newcomers, the rule still stands....

Yes, a Disneyland with warts....The biggest drawback is that most who graduate from HS here cannot afford to live here anymore. My Grandfather's second wife died two years ago at age 105. Grand Dad had left the a 3/4 acre lot, on which she built a 2,000 ft ranch style house, top quality construction. The lot then has a value of about $25,000...Today, the lot is worth more without the house....$1million, the house is consiidered a trardown because it is not modern colonial......, so you'd be in at $2m.... Even a top MIT Grad could not afford that for at least a decade. So for years, they have left, drifted back for reunions and vacations. . Occasionally one or two will inherit a home, or make enough to afford a retirement cottage.... My son , who now owns a home I build as a "spec" house but made the mistake of custonizing finish to a "lady" who it turns out was relying on Daddy to pay the final. Daddy did not like the "lady" the "lady" chose for a significant other, so no $. I kept the portion of the deposit that was legal and justifiable just as there was a slight realestate slowdown, and moved my son in to keep the house safe and clean. he married and the rest is history... Stuff happens, and today I could sell at a fine profit, but then where the heck would my son, dau. in law and two grandkids live? Life is hard, it is said, then you die. Sigh....
