The original CFR was a who's who of the banking representatives who were responsible for the creation of the Federal Reserve.
"Colonel" Ed House, Woodrow Wilson's chief of staff, was basically this organization's midwife, at it's formation in 1921. House was an admitted C*******t, and was prominent in securing passage of the 16th Amendment and the Fed. You will have noted probably that 2 of the 10 planks of the C*******t Manifesto are a "graduated and progressive income tax," and a "Central Bank."
The CFR was actually pretty small potatoes until FDR came into office, at which point their participation in the highest levels of government exploded. Since the FDR Administration, membership in the CFR or it's bastard child, the Trilateral Commission has been a requirement for advancement past a certain point in government. Almost every member of the Clinton Administration, and both Bush Administrations were also either CFR or Trilaterals.
You might also note that the 17th Amendment was also passed during Wilson's Administration, paving the way for the Imperial Senate we now have. There was no such thing as a Senator spending 20 or 30 years in DC before the 17th, because no State Legislature, who originally picked the Senators, would have stood for it.
So now we have a Senate full of nearly-impossible to unseat incumbents who are mostly CFR and Trilaterals. There are quite a few in the House, also, but the percentages are lower.
