Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
God's purpose, for allowing trials in our life, is to give us greater strength. Just as exercise may leave you with sore muscles, it's purpose is to build and strengthen those muscles. When you go through a spiritual trial it builds your spiritual muscle, your faith. By strengthening your faith, it enables you to overcome even greater obstacles that may come into your life. Life can deal you some pretty hard blows, but faith gives you the will and fortitude to continue on.
If you have never known a hardship, pain, or loss, you may go through life a shallow person. As a young woman, I had a friend who was beautiful. She had a flawless complexion, thick, naturally curly hair, and basically very intelligent. She had one major flaw, she could not take rejection. As a result of not having the strength to move on, get over a loss, she ended her own life. A life worth living, is a life worth fighting for, and it's so much easier to do that when you know and trust the Lord.
