..."Angie Thurston wandered amid the tables set up by the various campus ministries. Catholic, Methodist, Muslim — they mostly served to reinforce the sense that Ms. Thurston did not fit into an organized religion.

Here she was, starting her graduate studies in religion when she did not know the definition of liturgy, had never read the Bible and could not have identified a major theologian like Karl Barth, even if it would have won her a fortune on “Jeopardy!” Yet something in organized religion hinted at an answer to the atomized, unmoored life she led."...

I feel sorry for this woman and others who are so lost in the secular world which is self centered entirely, so seek to find something to believe in. When they go to divinity school, not to learn about God and His word, but to feel good about themselves without sacrificing and loosing one iota of their self centeredness. Unfortunately a large number of people in divinity school are atheists, apparently around one third, by the latest figures I have seen. They seek the trappings of religion but do not wish to learn the faith, or receive god's message. they are part of the reason churches have become social meeting places, willing to say the gospels are wrong, and pick and choose the commandments they want to accept. They take their shopping list, get what they want, and wonder why after a diet of Twinkies and Ding Dongs they still feel empty.

I did not realize this. I wish they had an earnest desire to seek the truth. I wonder what makes them spend the time instead of going to school for something that truly interests them. It seems so many people expend a lot of energy to not believe in God or the gospel. They must know down deep they are rejecting God simply because they are rebellious and do not want to surrender to the creator.

You did not realize it because you and I are seeking the tue message from God, not using church as a placebo. It is alifelong search, isn't it, my friend. Glad to see you posting again, but don't get too involved and wound up. We are having a virtual picnic on
wednesdy, and you are welcome and wanted.
aunti
en has all the information. We are hosting, pulled pork sandwiches and home make chili and peach cobbler. Plenty of coffee and tea, or bring your own soda, you know how these things work. The neighbors goats spent the day mowing the lawn, and it looks good. Archie is bringing Norbert, and the goats want to meet the famous and fabulous Norbert goldfish!.

Thanks for the invite. Sounds like my kind of food and fellowship and I'm sure Norbert will get along swimmingly.

Let's take a look at another picture and see how some really bad dudes were steered in the right direction.

Angola Prison (Louisiana), long known as the bloodiest prison in the south and the most crowded in the entire United States. There are an average of 6100 inmates in Angola, most serving life sentences, with 85 on death row. It was so bad in there that some described it as a battlefield in a box.

In 1995, a big fella named Burl Cain became the warden and under his watch the prison underwent an almost miraculous transformation. Burl Cain earned his unofficial title as "God's own Warden."

Moses said "Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord".
"The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is His name. "O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good. For His mercy endureth forever. Amen. The Pearls of the Bible, thank God for the letter He has sent to us.
