THIS WOMAN COST TAXPAYERS AN INSANE AMOUNT IN WELFARE FRAUD

Tea Party Posting - Oct 17, 2015

We already know the welfare system is a bad deal for American taxpayers.

Every single year the American people are on the hook to help fund billions of dollars in government assistance programs.

Democrats argue without these programs millions of people are going to fall through the cracks and get “left behind.”

All you have to do is go to a grocery store and see someone paying with food stamps while wearing their brand new everything to realize this isn’t remotely true.

In all actuality millions of welfare recipients are gaming the system.

Including this woman who bilked us for $4 million.

Here’s what the DOJ said in a press release.

(I wonder if they will go after the espionage 'flack' [Hitlary] as fast as this Welfare case?)

Vida Ofori Causey, (I'm Going To Take a Wild Guess That She Isn't Irish! Don D.) 45, was charged in an Information with one count of conspiracy to commit SNAP benefits fraud, one count of SNAP fraud, and one count of money laundering in connection with a four year fraud scheme.

The Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), provides eligible households with government subsidies for certain foodstuffs, and allows holders to exchange their SNAP benefits for food at authorized retail food stores.

Causey was the owner and operator of J&W Aseda Plaza, a convenience store on Main Street in Worcester. From April 2010 to October 2014, Causey conspired with others to commit SNAP fraud by purchasing SNAP benefits from recipients rather than exchanging them for food.

Causey purchased the benefits at a discounted value of approximately fifty cents for every SNAP dollar. By so doing, Causey caused the USDA to electronically deposit into a bank account controlled by her the full face value of the SNAP benefits fraudulently obtained.

During the course of the conspiracy Causey defrauded the USDA of approximately $3,638,900 in SNAP funds.

You can fully expect this case is no way unique.

And even if other people’s plans to defraud the system are nowhere near this severe, you can count on the this kind of activity happening even on a minor scale millions of times over the course of the year.

Many of the times the fraud goes un-investigated because there are thresholds that need to be met, like in Texas where it takes $5,000 in fraud before any investigation begins.

In one state it was shown 54 defendants were responsible for $18 Million in theft. Imagine if that was happening all over the U.S. to that extent.

The bottom line is the welfare state needs to end.

The fact people are able to get away with this in any capacity is maddening.

This is another perfect example of who is perpetrating the fraud...the welfare recipient gained little from the exchange. And to actually game the system required someone with insider knowledge. It doesn't mean that individuals shouldn't receive a $132 per month, it means the security to utilize the card must be modified to prevent such exchanges. Bear in mind, this is on the backs of state government.

There is a lot more fraud in medicare than in the SNAP program. It is 40% of their budget, 200 billion annually.

Simple solution for sentencing: Total dollar benefits received/$40,000 = Length of incarceration without parole.
The $40,000 is used for example. It would be the most recent median household income in the U.S.

In this instance: $3,638,900/$40,000 = 90 years, 11 months,
20 days.
