Some of the terrier breeds also were protectors of livestock and children, such as the Airedale, which was also an outstanding military dog in England. It is a shame to forget an entire group just because they are not in favor by pet owners right now. Asta was a Wire Fox Terrier, JFK had a Welsh Terrier, and FDR had a number of Scottish terriers, Hitchcock had Sealyham terriers which often appeared in his movies. They are not everyone's cup of tea, you have to be smart and stubborn to work well with these tough intelligent characters.
