It's Elementary my dear Watson.

For years Sherlock Holmes has been a British television crime drama that is derived from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories.

Sherlock Holmes is presented by Doyle as a refined London gentleman with proper manners acting as a consulting detective; assisted by his flatmate, Dr Watson. Also a gentleman and steady country doctor.

Holmes has always been presented as a brilliant sleuth -- who with his trusted Dr. Watson solve crimes, over and over again. Up until now that is: Behold the new American series titled: "Elementary" where the feel good, politically-correct-dolts have changed the whole cast of characters to represent their PC view.

Yes. Dr. Watson is now a "minority-female" flatmate played by Lucy Liu and is being cast as the leader in the duo. She is shown out-sleuthing Sherlock with her own style of abductive reasoning, and leading him around like her own little, lost minion.

Sherlock is no longer being presented as a refined British Gentleman with proper manners and refined bearing. No! He is now being shown a recovering addict who is dependent on Watson to hold his mental state in a straight line. A teary eyed twit unworthy of the title "super sleuth" and visually portrayed as a modern metro male, lacking in class and long of wind.

Noteworthy; is both Watson and Holmes, were known as cigarette and pipe smokers, yet not one scene in the new American CBS series.

It is really quite sick, how the liberals who produce this mental trash, think they have our liberty to change characters to their choice of political correctness and try so very hard to change the future viewpoints of great writers and characters.

They must think we are so dense we cannot deduct their intent.

It is quite obvious that you have never read the original Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
From the wiki:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_Holmes#Use_of_drugs
Quote:
Holmes occasionally uses addictive drugs, especially when lacking stimulating cases. He believes the use of cocaine stimulates his brain when it is not in use. He is a habitual user of cocaine, which he injects in a seven-per-cent solution using a personal syringe that he keeps in a Morocco leather case. Holmes is also an occasional user of morphine but expressed strong disapproval on visiting an opium den. These drugs were legal in late 19th-century England. Both Watson and Holmes are continual tobacco users, including cigarettes, cigars, and pipes, though this was not an uncommon habit during this era. Holmes is an expert at identifying tobacco-ash residues, having penned a monograph on the subject.

Dr. Watson strongly disapproves of his friend's cocaine habit, describing it as the detective's 'only vice' and expressing concern over its possible effect on Holmes's mental health and superior intellect. In 'The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter', Watson claims to have 'weaned' Holmes off drugs. Even so, according to his doctor friend, Holmes remains an addict whose habit is 'not dead, but merely sleeping'.

Another thing, is Hollywood not allowed to take creative license? Is that something that is outlawed? Did you forget that r****m during the time of Doyle was much more prevalent and would have gotten Doyle unpublished had he written it with minority characters? Taking that into consideration, what was the percentage of country doctors in England during his time period that were women?

If someone wants to see the original Sherlock Holmes, they can read the books and get a better imagery than Hollywood would ever give them regarding the character. Complaining that it is nothing like the original when it was probably not intended to be anything but based on the original just goes to show how badly you want to complain about anything and everything. Grow up, get a life and find a real target. Just because you do not like the show or the premise of it, does not mean the rest of us will automatically follow in your footsteps.

I do note that you have not made one comment about the Robert Downey, Jr version of the character, even though SH was portrayed as an addict in those movies as well.

My wife and I had friends who resided in a small town somewhere in southern England (who can remember?) and were invited to visit with them and we insisted on renting accomodations in town. They arranged for us to stay in Sir Arthur Conon Doyle's old house who had been sold after his death and now was being resold. The treat was that we were to sleep in Sir Arthur's old canopied bed in his master bedroom and had one of the old staff tend to our needs. When we went to sleep the first night the staff member told us to pay attention to the mural painted on the canopy which was wood, overhead and lo and behold it was the mural of the famous WATERFALLS which featured in one of his adventures. The staff person told us it was the inspiration for his book in which he was featured. Just an anecdote that you may appreciate.

I have read and reread "The Complete Sherlock Holmes" three times since I bought it for my Kindle. I love Doyle's style and imagery. He was a fantastic writer.

Thank you so very much. Your attempt at obfuscation was clearly shown as a reiteration of my points. Point by point, by point.

You were so very easy. So very short on brains so very verbose of mouth. I was expecting just such a retort from the brain dead on this board.

Now read very slowly and get the white powder out of your nose. Nowhere in any of Doyle's novels did he show Holmes use of cocaine acting as a detriment to his capabilities and a need for a girl to lead him around like you try and lead everyone off topic. His words which you just tried to magnify beyond the topic were nothing more than asides to the story, not a re-write as is the case in "Elementary".

To wit:

Lord.
Grant me the serenity to accept stupid people the way they are. The courage to maintain my self control and the wisdom to '"know that if I act on it, I'll got directly to jail without passing go.

" is Hollywood not allowed to take creative license? Is that something that is outlawed?

I suggest you take that discussion up with Paul Joseph Goebbels. In case you forgot, he was a German politician and Reich Minister of Propaganda in N**i Germany.

Goebbels exerted control over the media, arts and information in Germany. He used modern propaganda techniques to ideologically prepare the German people for aggressive warfare. Just as your heroes are doing in our media today as you promote social warfare.

Need any more clarification just let me know.
