Let's give Medicare the right to negotiate lower drug cost.
For the last 50 years "Medicare" great program provide health care to more than 54 million Americans, mainly those over 65 years old. To keep Medicare strong the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services need the authority from the U.S. Congress to negotiate lower prices for prescription drugs covered by Medicare. American are paying now a lot more $$$$ for prescription drugs than people do in other advanced countries, but private insurance plans in U.S.A. can negotiate for lower price with drug companies, but Medicare can't do that. Negotiating prices for prescription drugs could potentially save billions of $$$$ for Medicare's beneficiaries. I you agree, please call your U.S. Senator and ask them to cosponsor the S.31, Medicare Prescription Drug price Negotiation Act of 2015.
If we had a one payer system, medical, drug, and hospital costs could be negotiated for everyone. More people are forced into poverty due to medical bills than any other reason. It is past time to rein in these crooks.

The stranglehold (money) that private, for profit health insurance corporations and big pharma has on Congress has prevented the implementation of a single payer system in the US.
HR676 (Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act) has been introduce in Congress every year since 2011 but will not be allowed to come up for a v**e.

We've tried this before and failed several times. Want to know why? Medicare, being a Federally managed program - cannot accept kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies.

She Wolf: I agree with you, we need a single payer Medicare for all with cost control, to eliminate the Medical care monopoly we have that increased medical care cost 16% per year, with impunity.

Workinman: With the U.S. Congress majority we have, and 5 Republican Justices majority in our U.S. Supreme Court we can't reform anything to help the majority American people who struggle to survive now.

Ipnmajor: Medicare can't receive kickback from pharmaceutical companies, but the 535 members of U.S. Congress can receive all the $$$$ money "kickback" as political contributions from the Medical industry to help the Medical monopoly run like "MAFIA" business.

Workinman: If any Federal government program isn't running efficiently the 535 members of U.S. Congress can use the "check and balance" to repair the wrongdoing, but our U.S. Congress isn't running efficiently either since 1968.

buffalo: It's evident that the majority members of our U.S. Congress are receiving millions of $$$$ money political contributions from Corporations and the special interests, and they aren't going to do anything to help the majority American people who struggle to survive now with the high cost of living increases.
