Matthew 7:7

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Yesterday, I had to have some blood drawn. For insurance purposes they required a photo ID, and my insurance cards. I was told they would be returned to me, when they came to get me. I sat down and proceeded to read a magazine. When they came for me, they did return my cards. Since I had to follow them right away, I have a small pocket in the back of my purse where I placed the cards. By the time it was all over, I'd forgotten about my cards.

Today, since I was in town it gave me an opportunity to replace my voter's registration card, which I had lost, along with my driver's license. This time I needed my driver's license to prove my residency. Thank goodness, I still had the temporary in my billfold, but where on earth was my original? Upon arriving home, I began a rather frantic search, but had no luck. Finally, I gave up and said a prayer. I busied myself for a distraction, then decided to sit down and go through my purse. The first place I stuck my hand was in the small pocket in the back of my purse, I pulled out my cards and said, "Thank You, Lord."

We wait until all else fails, then, in desperation, we finally turn to Him. I've had that happen several times, how about you? As for my lost registration and license, I had no idea where to look for them, and forgot to ask the Lord to help me find them. Someday, they may turn up, but I didn't feel comfortable waiting for someday.

b Matthew 7:7 /b br br Ask and it will be giv... (show quote)

God moves me at rare time in such a way that is without my direct obedience or awareness. A volunteer at the TV station was looking for a tape measure or, at least, a ruler. I was watching a movie on my computer and did not like the interruption; my work there was done for the day and I just wanted to relax. But there was more. It is hard to estimate how many useless searches myself and others have made to find a ruler at best to make a measurement. Past experience said such a search was useless.

Then I found myself getting up and going directly into the secretary's room next door and walking to the back file cabinet, immediately seeing a ruler on top of it. I settled on this "miraculous find" being simply an observation I made that got buried in my sub-conscious. Just in conversation, I related to the secretary what happened the day before. She got quiet, appeared to be in deep thought. "What time?" she asked. "Noon, straight up," I answered without hesitation, for I was anticipating going to lunch. She smiled. "For some reason I could not explain, I found myself going through the bottom drawer of that file cabinet we no longer use. As I opened it I remember thinking, 'Why am I doing this?' There were a number of useful tools in there but I just grabbed the ruler and put it on top. Then I took the deposit to the bank." Roy, who needed a measurement, held the door opened for her as she left. It was, to me, God and not my sub-conscious that saw that ruler. A minor thing, maybe otherwise explainable, but I know it was miraculous.
