I didn't know beer was good for you. I drink a few beers a week some times I go months without one.. I guess now when I am having a beer I'll be thinking of the benefits for my health. Bottoms up.

The continued (at least twice) reference to the blood thinning function of beer made me think that my form of blood thinner (baby strength aspirin) works at least as well and is certainly cheaper.

In 2005 a urologist who was getting ready to do a biopsy of my prostate gland told me to stop taking the aspirin for a week because he didn't want me to bleed to death for such a simple procedure. The day before my biopsy was to take place I had a heart attack that resulted in a 6 bi-pass surgery three days later.

I have mentioned to many doctors, especially heart ones that I believe my blood thickened up enough from not taking those aspirins and since those arteries were between 85% and 95% plugged my heart just couldn't pump hard enough. I haven't found one of them that disagreed with me.

As for beer, I found that I could drink 3 liters of good, unpasteurized German beer and before the 4th one got all the down I would have to throw up. Good old Lowenbrau beer that I found out tasted terrible when it came in cans for export to the United States. One of my buddies always tried to make sure every glass was empty before we left but he never wanted to fight me as he would have had to have done to get any more beer down me.

I can't stand beer - not even the "aroma" coming from it. I've also heard that aspirin (over a period of time) can cause liesions(sp) in the stomach, so I've decided to stick with my Chinese Herbal Remedies - no side effects as there are no additives.

Normally, I might have need of aspirin to the extent of twice a year. You can see how long a bottle will last me. I did once get a prescription for pain (when I was undergoing a phase between surgeries that recommended 3 a day (one day I actually needed 4) but, as I no longer had the pain I discontinued them. At a later date, I did take half a pill and found it knocked me out for the entire next day. I sincerely believe that since I don't take medication regularly, my body is very susceptible to any medication.

I did learn that most pain can be relieved by adequate circulation. This from my acupuncturist. I've found that the "circulation" pills take only 10 minutes to work - I timed it). I'll stick with the herbals with confidence. This especially since Big Pharma has decided to include statins in almost every prescription. (One would think that they're having a fire sale on statins.) I have read about the negative effect statins produce.

I have also met multiple people who were taking (prescribed) up to 7 pills a day. After the first one, their doctors kept on recommending additional prescriptions in order to take care of the side effects instead of discontinuing the original and are still feeling ill. As you can see, I don't trust Big Pharma. How many people die as they are used as guinea pigs or lab mice before our marvelous FDA does their own testing rather than accepting the results provided by our pharmaceutical companies.

I also very much prefer vodka to beer. Any alcoholic beverage does the same thing.

I take a baby aspirin a day. I like vodka perhaps too much especially when it is mixed into Kamakazis. After my previous wife died I binged on the darn things. Two fiths of Stolichnia Vodka two fifths of Monarch triple sec and a bottle of Roses lime juice a week for almost a year and that was on top of the case of rolling rock per week. I snapped out of it but I gotta tell you Kamakazis are flat delicious. I have not tasted one in 12 years.

Never had a Kamakazi. Being a purist (I take my coffee black) the only thing I use is bottled water. But I have tried a new flavored vodka. I like marshmallow.

I have seen Marshmallow vodka but was never tempted to buy it..I like some homemade Kahlua my friend makes. The recipe calls for 2 quarts of Straight grain alcohol and 1/2 gallon of vodka. Heh heh--- it's good stuff.
