Well paid nuts I'm sure. I thought I've had some tough working environments years ago but that was something. The chopper pilot did an amazing job.

There are some who are not affected by height and can work well and not be afraid. I have two brother in laws who are perfectly fine up 40-60 ft. high in a tree cutting out the branches and lowering them to the ground. They hop around up there from branch to branch and don''t think anything about it. Not me though.

I've been several stories up on catwalks in power plants. Semi-outdoors with a great view of the countryside and looking down through the expanded metal walkways all the way to the ground. I've never had a problem but we had a few new guys step out of the freight elevator, take a look around and stepped back into the elevator and quit that day. They were warned about the working conditions (heights, extreme heat, and working in really bad weather) . The heat in front of coal furnaces got to me. A lot of times it was around 160 degrees. You couldn't stay long and would have to rotate personnel. It wasn't uncommon to have workers pass out. I came close twice but fortunately laid back on the catwalk. If I'd fallen forward my head would likely have landed on a probe as it was extracted that was close to 2000 degrees. I decided to seek a better line of work.

I do recall that, in the building of the Empire State Building, most of the workers were from a particular Native tribe in N.Y. It seemed that dealing with heights was a part of their initiation rites to the tribe. They also had a nickname. Does anyone recall the name of that tribe?

I know that both of my brother in laws had some Native Indian blood in them from their fathers side who also did tree work. I don't know which tribe it was but I do remember hearing that.

I believe they were called something like Skywalkers. There was a documentary about the constructing of the Empire State Building. It's quite fascinating and I'm sure it can be googled if you're interested. Although I had reason to visit, I never noticed that all the lobby walls were of a particular type of marble. But then, many NY buildings followed suit. I believe the same is true of Grand Central Station. New York truly has no equal. It's a country onto itself.

Yeah, a foreign country. Does visiting there require learning a foreign language or is English OK?
