hmmm, come to think of it, yep...it's a fact
 Food for thought.....
" The reason Mayberry was so peaceful and quiet was because nobody was married - Andy, Aunt Bea, Barney, Floyd, Howard, Goober, Gomer, Sam, Earnest T Bass, Helen, Thelma Lou, Clara, and of course Opie - all single.
The only married person was Otis, and he stayed drunk."

I had never thought of or realized that glaring fact. That puts it all in a different perspective, when you think of it. It was blissful in Mayberry, wasn't it :?:

The one I saw this morning showed Aunt Bea buying a car and before you knew it she had backed into a tree. Then Andy came along in his squad car and ran into her car. Not so blissful, at that.

And no one noticed the many empty beer cans strewn about the floor of either vehicle? Don Knotts clearly tweaking on meth? Opie on calming and peaceful opiates or maybe weed? What good olde days? Everyone was in denial in Mayberry, a wretched town of sodden spirit and bland appetite.

Accidents happen - they walk among us daily.
Nothing personal, oldroy, just an obvious comment.

then they missed out on a lotta life
Hey Link..... Great observation.....
Very untrue! Not only was Otis married but so was Rafe Hollister, who lived on a farm and had a wonderful singing voice. Also, when Ellie May ran for town council all the wives got behind her and demonstrated until Andy gave in and allowed her to run for the office. The man who owned the butcher shop was married and so were several others who showed up sometimes.
