Horrible state of drinking water world wide. Sorry for the poor graphics. Red areas are a no go for untreated water.

Greg Keraghosian

It’s one of the first questions you might ask before you travel to another country: is it safe to drink the tap water there? Not doing your homework could ruin your vacation and leave you with such maladies as diarrhea and hepatitis A.

The below infographic, compiled by Just the Flight, looks to help travelers know where it is and isn’t safe to drink. It uses data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and goes country by country – blue means go ahead and drink, and red means stay away from tap water.

Go here for a better view.

No wonder they all want to come here.

Blue is where white (European decent) people live.

Red is where everyone else lives.

Hmmmmm? Why is that? Hmmmmm?

Are the European Caucasians keeping water treatment technology a secret from everyone else? Is it an evil conspiracy?

Or, could it be that the people in the blue areas have a more free society than those in the red areas?

I think that if you look closely, pretty much all of the areas in red either are rife with corruption or they live under autocratic rule.

Living down stream from peoples who still to this day have little or no understanding of little things like keeping your domesticated herbivores and their owners from polluting the waters with waste products could have impact. The red/blue line is striking. Politically and culturally the colors are inverse. I believe that's a correlation that meets your theory.

Yeah, I see that I didn't expound on what living in a free society vs autocratic society implies. It's something so engrained into my consciousness, that I sometimes assume that everyone understands the obvious implications.

Freedom fosters invention and entrepreneurship. Tyranny suppresses such.

Also, there's something to be said for the Western way of life and thinking brought on by Europeans and their posterity. Another way of saying it is...White people have long figured out how to solve and implement solutions to problems that "people of color" have not. But, of course, we can't speak the t***h anymore. We have to pretend truisms don't exist.

But you're right, it's the day to day practices of individuals with regards to environmental matters that ultimately make the difference.
