Here is one of my favorite folk tunes from the 60s. Remember that these songs all tell a real story, and this one surely does that.

I played several of the songs I found thru this link. The Lime lighters are one good band. :thumbup: :thumbup:

Im " leaving on a jet plane " was my favorite song ,while I was in Vietnam,I was hoping my day would come,Thankfully it did,,,,,,,,,,

That would be the Animals, with Eric Burdon as lead singer. It was a big favorite with the troops in 'Nam. 8-)

Perhaps my favorite folk song was 'Today,' written by John Denver. Randy Sparks won the court battle over who wrote the lyrics, but Denver swore to writing them. In any event, Denver's version of the song was a 'dandy', so to speak. :thumbup: Beautiful :!:

Yes, but Glenn Yarborough broke away from them on a solo career, and was brilliant himself with hits such as 'Baby, The Rain Must Fall,' and 'Lonesome,' among others. The Limelighters were considered the voice of Coca-Cola for some time with their 'Things go better with Coke' tune/jingle. :wink:
