Josh Earnest, Standup Comic: 'No Public Official' Is Above The Law

White House spokesman Josh Earnest declared today with a straight face that no public official is above the law, reports Talking Points Memo.
Earnest told reporters during his daily press briefing that he had not yet spoken with President Obama about Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who was jailed earlier in the day for refusing to give marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Davis had been taken into federal custody for being in contempt of court. Earnest cited it as an example of this administration's respect for and adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law:
On principle, the success of our democracy depends on the rule of law. And there is no public official that is above the rule of law. Certainly not the President of the United States, but neither is the Rowan County clerk. Thats a principle that is enshrined in our Constitution and in our democracy and its one that obviously the courts are seeking to uphold."
"Certainly not the President of the United States, or Hillary Clinton." What a k**ler punchline. Too bad his lawlessness is no laughing matter.
