When my oldest daughter left for college, she asked honestly, (knowing my conservative leanings that make Limbaugh look like a middle of the road weenie) "Dad, what is really the difference between Democrats and REpublicans?"
In some of my best political wisdom that I even impressed myself I told her:

" The difference is like the first day of school... You meet this fat kid who says, 'Give me your lunch money or I will beat you up!' That is a democrat.
The next day you meet a fat kid who says, 'Look, give ME your lunch money and I will keep him from beating you up!'
Either way the money is gone... watch what THEY DO not what they SAY!"

You are describing politicians, not necessarily a specific party. And you failed to mention if the second "fat kid," to complete the analogy, was a Repubican.

Teddy Roosevelt was a populist who saw where our federal government was going because of the influence of Corporate America: bought and paid for. Fascinating to read about this nation's history from 1880 to 1920. Unchecked capitalism was k*****g workers literally by the thousands every year and millions were staving. The Titans (Morgan, Rockefeller, and Carnegie) wangled Roosevelt the VP job basically to sap him of power and spent millions to get McKinley elected, their good friend. But a few bullets changed that.

Teddy fought this practice with antitrust suits and won, which began to immediately improve the working conditions for the average American. Was he the first or second fat kid?

In what horror story did you find this illusion. There is no resemblance of Jesus's teachings in the demoncrat party that almost kicked God out of their parties platform in 2012. If you call robing from the rich or those that have something and distributing it to those who do nothing and are idle I would like to see that verse in the Bible. Jesus upheld the ten commandments and one of the commandments was thou shalt not steal. If you are talking about the tithe that was for the work of the Lord and that came first. If you are talking about gifts they were just that they were gifts not forced extractions. If you are talking about the first church they did this out of the gladness of their heart again no one was forcing them to do so or taxing them into submission. I would really suggest that you go back and reread the Bible maybe you will come to different conclusions later.

The democrats rob you and think they're are doing you a favor. The Republicans (at least the RINOs) rob you also, but at least have the decency to act like they regret it. When the Republicans had control, they were not much better than the Democrats.

Three times that I know of in the Bible, it tells what alone people will be judged on: what they "do for the least of these." Who are "the least of these"? The needy and the lost. Which policies come closest to this imperative: social programs or privatization?

It is undeniable that "social darwinism" is part and parcel of Republican ideology but it sounds so much better when you say the belief of "pulling yourself up by your own boot straps." Take a look at what the Republican Party was like from 1880 to 1920 to get what I mean. Teddy Roosevelt was considered a t*****r to hiis party for looking to fight Corporate America and help improve the conditions of the workers.

Look at Moral Mondays in NC, where coalitions of Christians and others protested the policies being enacted there. The Catholic Church has also come out against some of the tactics by Republicans in looking to end social programs and promote the elite.

But I can hardly say that most liberal politicians are dev**ed followers of Christ, even if their policies do favor a more Christian stance toward workers and the needy.

Both Democrat and Republican politicians are corrupt to the core.

The difference is that the dems are so much more practices and accomplished at corruption.

Remember rumitoid these are commands given to the people to follow not to the government. No government will inherit the kingdom of God only people. Most of the Christians I know are very charitable people but they strongly dislike the government taxing them more and in exchange giving that money to the fourth and fifth generation of lazy people who have never in their entire life gotten up off of their lazy asses and done a days work in their life and expect to be fed and clothed by those who are working and feeding and clothing themselves. The other thing is welfare. Please explain why we have to give out welfare to people who are doing nothing but sitting around watching TV all day and then get this crap about feeding their kids breakfast in school and hot lunch "because this will be the only hot food this child will get all day". If the big fat mama can't get up off of her big fat ass and prepare her child or children food then remove said children from the big fat mama until she learns how to cook. I mean how hard is tit to boil water and make Mac n Cheese, throw in a couple hot dogs and you have a gourmet meal. I know boiling water is an art form but I am sure that even the lowliest of these people can be trained in this. Then teach her how to get a job and take her taxes to feed the poor. When they also get pissed off then this country will be on the road to recovery.

Our government is based on being of, for, and by the people, not some removed entity ruling over us. If we are Christian people or just caring people, we would look to take care for our fellow citizens the best way possible, both personally and by the government of "we the people."

Giving handouts is ennabling. You are not doing someone a favor. I differentiate between those who are actually in need of help, who really cannot work. I do believe, somewhere in the Pauline Epistles, it says something about he that doesn't work, doesn't eat. This refers to able bodied people, not those who cannot.
