Distortion is the wavelength of the conspiratorialist, the least logical outcome is true because it is still plausible.
My mother-in-law, is to put colloquially "loonie". She told this story many times that someone stole clothing from her house. I finally was so tired of hearing her discuss that I asked her one some simple question, to wit:
"Did any of the items stolen match?"
-"no"
"Mom, you're saying that considering your size, size 1, if someone found a closet full of clothes that fit them, wouldn't they have taken more things, and things that were coordinated with one another? You travel back and forth to Cleveland and have dry cleaning done there, correct?"
-"yes"
"Isn't it possible that you lost the items at a dry cleaner?"
-"I don't want to talk about it anymore"
