The Duh-ahha Moment

In eight years, I have only had to work late at night three times. Being alone in the building this particular night, it was company policy to lock the double front doors. When it was time to leave, my key was unable to turn the lock. I tried for about ten minutes before I thought I was getting ingenuous as to my dilemma: scrap some graphite from a pencil, blow it in the hole, and viola! No good. Next I hunted for WD40 without luck but found some oil: no effect. It now seemed the only way I would get out of the building was to call someone. I took out my phone, was scrolling for a number, when I realized I could exit through the kitchen window. Silly me. As I headed for the kitchen, the big Duh-ahha hit:there was another set of double doors in front that used the same key. Humiliating. My only excuse is that those doors have never been used since I started work here. No matter.

These pie-in-the-face awakenings act as a wholesome blunting of ego and not a terrible reminder that we are merely human.

Please share your most embarrassing moments. It is good for the soul.

Hmmmm....the experience you relate? That, for me, would be another one of those life lessons, no witnesses, save God. I don't just think, I know, I have provided God with lots of comedic relief over the years when it comes to life lessons. Embarrassing moments, for me, generally, are those in which I have affected someone else in a negative way. Tell you what, quid pro quo here....you tell one of yours and I'll tell one of mine.  Actually, I have two that immediately come to mind. I do hasten to add that 'confession' isn't always good for the soul. Just sayin'....some things are best left between God and...

As I read your thread, I pondered, because many of your threads have hidden meaning embedded in them, if what you were getting at, is that there are many paths to God, all slightly different, one from the other, but the important part of that equation isn't HOW you got there, but simply that you GOT there. Was I close?

I've got one of these threads over at Chat. Nice to have more than one member in the Fool's Club.
