I personally like all people no matter who/what they are. My own husband was (now deceased) was part Cherokee and his grandmother was full blooded Cherokee. I am not saying anything bad about anyone, but the native American should have to pay their way in life - for anything/everything - the same as I have to do. Although we have a treaty with them, the treaty along with all of the amendments to the constitution needs to be redone. This treaty must be at least 100/200 years old. They should live and pay for things the same as everyone else - they should be treated equal. As all things need revamped, so does this treaty allowing them free healthcare or anything else they are omitted from paying.

I can in some ways understand and agree with what you say. Bottom line though, we stole their country from them, if anything we should be paying them and living as they say. I am sure a lot of people will disagree with that but theft is theft no matter how you slice it.

Just imagine (and it probably isn't far from being a done deal) another country/ies (say China who has already declared that the U.S. is the world's worst threat to peace) comes in and pushes you off to the worst part of the land (if they let you live at all it will be as s***es). Do you think that you would want to pay homage to them even after several hundred years knowing they took the most beautiful land in the world from your ancestors and in reality yourself?

As for myself I am ready to fight anybody that wants to take my country from me, foreign or domestic. I would never be happy even a thousand years from then because I know what kind of way of life they took away from me.

It is a tough call but in the end I say leave them alone, we owe them a lot more than they owe us.

Some overlooked history. All Indians tribes are not the same. They had their internecine warfare just as the w****s did. Some Indian tribes got screwed, royally. Among these are the Cherokee, the Modocs, the Nez Perces, the Choctaw and the Seminoles. We obtained the land of the Lakota in the same way they obtained it in the first place: by force of arms. The Lakotas' land was theirs by right of conquest. They simply threw out the previous occupants. Then got all aggrieved when the same was done to them. The Apaches and Navajos were both very warlike, constantly fighting with other tribes. To a lesser degree, the Iroquois were the same. As in other times and places throughout history, the peaceful people got nailed by the warlike, and the warlike got hammered by the more warlike. I honestly believe that some tribes deserve all sorts of breaks, and others deserve nothing.

I agree, I was leaning toward the Cherokee end of it all since that was what the author had mentioned.

As much as I h**e to say it we are going to cry like everyone else that gets their homes taken away from them when they come for us. We have gotten way to lazy and the majority of the people here could not survive an invasion. It is a shame so many people have died to keep this country free and now the generation that needs to step up is too worried about where there next cup of coffee, or next IPOD is coming from. We have already allowed the politicians to destroy our Constitution without so much as a decent protest. Shame on us all for failing to do what needs to be done at this time. We will get what we deserve. It's time for The Chief of Staff to step up and remove every politician from office. Then hold special e******ns to be held every 4 years with new people at the helm. Lifetime political lifestyles have got to come to an end.

I love to hear a politician talk about "entitlements" for Native Americans, though, don't you? The obvious sincerity and concern of someone who receives a salary of around $180,000 for what amounts to about 4 months work, has the best medical insurance in the world, is immune from prosecution while Congress in session, gets 2 months of paid vacation per year, and only has to serve one term to get a lifetime pension that is far more than most people earn is quite touching. It's heartwarming to know they are so concerned about an Indian getting some taxpayer money, (my previous comments about some deserving and some undeserving notwithstanding).

Or any of us for that matter. I wish I could v**e me a pay raise. They should get no better than 10% above the lowest of the people they represent. Medical should be denied them until everybody in this country has been taken care of. My family and I were forced into bankruptcy because of medical bills and nobody should have to endure that kind of embarrassment. Shame on all of the greedy bastards and b***hes.

It seems the new requirements for political office are being an amoral, duplicitous, self-aggrandizing son-of-a-b***h, with an uncontrollable desire to piss away someone else's money.

It would be helpful if you had provided a link to what your forum is about.

You write about a treaty. What treaty? What article? What anything?

Wow.........you want to know about the free healthcare for the Ogalla Sioux on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservation, in South Dakota........ ovomitcare will be much like what they have, most have to travel miles to get healthcare, they took their way of life, threw them on a patch of land not worth a damn, gave them white mans food which made them sick, took their GUNS AND BOWS,couldn't hunt for fresh meat, welfare gave them rotten beef.........IF YOU WANT TO SEE HOW ENTITLEMENTS WORK, go to South Dakota and take a look around the Pine Ridge and Rosebud, soon if we don't stop the rabid dog, the rest of the Nation will look exactly like them and believe me it's NOT pretty!!!

I agree with you banjo, but I don't think they are 'new' requirements. It seems that has been a prerequisite for forever.
