FNMA and FMCC are not the cause of this problem, they are the victims but its difficult to prove it to you. All I have are fragments of this and that and I try to draw lines between the dots.

One interesting thing was during the Republican primaries, Gingrich told us that he was hired by FMCC as a consultant and they paid him $1.7 million dollars over a 3-4 month period. Gingrich said that someone in government wanted FMCC to buy these sub-prime mortgages. He said he advised them against it because of the risk.

Stop right there.

Thats like me telling you its cold outside, be sure to wear your jacket to keep warm -- and you hire me for 3 months to analyze this advice. And then you pay me for it? Gingrich is lying isn't that obvious. It leaves us to wonder what was he really doing there. FMCC knows all about the risk - reward scenarios and the dangers of buying sub-prime mortgages. They went to college too. The i***t announcer did not ask any further details. It seems like they have a contract. You ask the question, the politician answers it and that's the end of it. No probing deeper.

Not only that, the rating agencies like Standard and Poors and Moody's rated these worthless derivatives they were selling as AAA grade investments. That fooled a lot of people and they bought into it and lost everything. (Merrill Lynch was selling them to retirement funds and when the lawsuits came, they went our of business). Then they got AIG to insure these investments for the broker / bank companies which is actually selling these derivatives short meaning the broker thinks they are going down in value (so he buys insurance on them) while they were selling them to customers as good investments.

This whole thing sounds more like a conspiracy to me orchestrated by someone high up in the government although I can't prove it. Its like another Watergate. Follow the money. I am disappointed in this President for not putting at least one of these CEOs in jail. Its probably because they have to keep the whole thing under wraps.
FNMA and FMCC are not the cause of this problem, t... (show quote)

We are starting to come together on this. I wouldnt call Freddie or Fanny victims, i would call them willing accomplices. Dont be disappointed. It is the Presidents job to NOT put these criminals in jail. AIG sold financial products to good faith customers while simultaneously shorting them. This is criminal . Insuring derivatives, accepting payment knowingly without intention of payouts when the insured products knowingly failed. Where did the money from all those t***sactions go? Their punishment, not jail but bail outs with taxpayer funds. GM, same story. Goldman Sachs, same story. GE, same story. The list goes on and the taxpayers got the bill. The government and corporate america are proceeding in t***sfering the wealth of a nation into the hands of the elite uber wealthy governing class. During FY2012, the federal government collected approximately $2.45 trillion in tax revenue, now, consider Maslar's earlier comment "The $12 Trillion is ANNUAL tax collections," PLEASE TELL ME, how you can extract 12 Trillion dollars annually out of a 15-16 Trillion dollar economy? Literally t***sferring the nations wealth to the federal government . This is how the PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP works. I wish it were only conspiracy theory, its more like a nightmare!

Thanks to all who expressed good wishes and prayers for my wife who has been disabled since a serious stroke in 2000, and a lesser one in 2001. It's actually harder on her than on me because she is wheel-chair bound and cannot use the left side at all. and once you can't do what you're used to doing, everything is dependent on other people. Loss of independence is the toughest. Thanks and God Bless you all for your concern, prayers and support... Albert Maslar albertmaslar2@gmail.com

Actually, FNMA and FMCC are a wild success story. They have already paid back 110 B out of 150 B loaned to them and they are on track to pay the rest of it by the end of year. The TARP program was a resounding success since it stemmed the negative unemployment and actually reversed its trend. The government could have a substantial profit if it were willing to wait, but 2016 is coming so they will probably settle for less.

The alternative Republican policy of "Let 'em fail, they deserve it" would have added more than 3 million more unemployed and you would be waiting (anybody's guess) 10 - 15 years for the bankruptcy court to do its thing. Meanwhile, tax breaks for the wealthy would have accomplished nothing of note and now try to stimulate a recovery with no financial sector. The Democrats shine in comparison.

The Bush policies weren't hitting on much and played favorites with banks and other big businesses but to say the Republican policy is consistent to "let 'em fail, they deserve it" is being a bit disingenuous. I like how tools of the left such as you will go out of their way to obfuscate the facts and resort to some Bush-era nonsense that have no conservative basis whatsoever to make your socialist buds look good. Bush hasn't been president for five years. Get over it. Your false god in the white house has done more damage than Bush could have done in a third term. Get your heads out of your collective asses.

Before you deceive this thread any further I have you know this current president has done everything to prolong the recession. Unemployment is still high and the so-called “jobs saved” are a bunch of federal and part-time jobs but no full-time work. People cannot make ends meet with just part-time jobs in this economy. The Middle Class is starting to pick up the tab for federal out of control spending and wh**ever congress can’t do this imperial presidency is doing what he wants through executive fiat. The Democrats are doing everything they can to k**l this nation to appease the extremists on the left. When you l*****t assholes go on about “tax breaks for the rich” your definition of rich is very broad and skewed these days. What you l*****ts are hammering as the “rich” are indeed the small business owners, the beating heart of the American economy. You are trying real hard to k**l the geese that laid the golden eggs. I’m not talking about the “Fat Cats” they’ve been in bed with government no matter which party is in control they get breaks regardless. The real fat cats like George Soros, Al Gore, Lloyd Fiengold, Warren Buffets and those Hollywood snobs such as Michael Moore.

We could have many jobs opening up if they hadn’t shot down the keystone pipeline deal. That could have easily put many jobs back into the economy but no, they had to appease the environmental N**is through fear mongering and lies about the hazards of building the pipeline. So much for energy independence!

This president and his far-left cronies have pissed away millions on failed energy projects such as Solyndra. They k**led the coal mining industry and putting hundreds if not thousands of people out of work in places like West Virginia to again appease extreme environmentalists. I like to add that big rolling mansion the Great Deceiver is using on his bus tour since this SOB stays in campaign mode was built in Canada? Way to go on helping the American working class.

You see the Democrats are just prolonging the recession. They’re doing nothing to help except expand the welfare state and making off like bandits with the food stamp scandal. The Democrats have done more to line the pockets of big business in Wallstreet than the Republicans have done during Bush. Cronyism exists on both sides not just the Republicans.

Where are the jobs?! Where are the full-time jobs? Going by your l*****t propaganda the economy should be booming and all I see is an anemic stagnation. Your lies are catching up with your kind.

No, it is a delineation of age group. You and one other, too my personal knowledge, are in their twenties, hence toddlers. There may be others I am unaware of.

Golly gee AuntiE, I wish I were in that category. On second thought, I don't think I would want to relive some of my past experiences.

The Conservatives have both a jobs and economics plan. They just haven't told anyone what it is yet.

Hasn't told anyone yet? Maybe they're being tuned out or maybe being shut down in the public arena. Your progs are responsible for that.

Conservatives and libertarians alike have mused on several plans but it is our so called "representatives" that refuse to present anything practical to the public spotlight. The RINOs are ignoring us and more focused on keeping their lofty jobs.

Great! What is the plan, without name-calling. Just a plain down to earth plan.
