The Problem is Us

The problem is no longer Republican vs. Democrats ... progressivism vs. conservatism ... and hasn't been for some time. The problem is us. We are a divided, ill-informed, schizophrenic people.

Half of us think government is the answer for everything and are content to wait around for handouts - or are working frantically to ensure others get there's. The other half just want to be left alone to eek out a living the best they can - donating generously perhaps but intelligent enough to know they can not be every brother's keeper.

Some h**e this country for what she's become and will stop at nothing to erode her very fabric so it can be rewoven and repurposed into something more useful. Others love her dearly, long for the 'good ole days' and are resistant to almost any change.

Of course these are the extremes and many of us fall somewhere in between. But these ideas are diametrically opposed. So we elect a feckless governing body who has long since decided the cause is hopeless. Better to just keep us distracted and arguing amongst ourselves over nothing while they continue to fleece us for everything we have left. Almost every issue today is designed to keep us confused and at odds with each other so politicians can cling to the undeserved power we've given them.

The true diagnosis? There is no one to save us. No one. The patient is too far gone. The course of actions needed to right the ship are now far too painful to even contemplate. Like the hiker a few years back who had to saw off his own arm with a pocket knife to free himself from the rocks, America would need to take some pretty draconian steps to rid the body politic of the seeping poison.

No, we are terminal for sure ... and any hope of recovery at this point is near impossible. Who we elect from here on out, Republican, Democrat, Physician, Business Tycoon, only determines how prolonged the illness will be. America is simply not prepared to cut off her own arm to free herself from the rocks. So die she will.

I'm afraid the good people here in OPP still arguing one party over the other, or the virtues of Clinton vs. Bush, Trump, Cruz, etc., or how wonderfully disastrous Obama has been as president, have yet to awaken from the coma to find the patient's true state of health.

No disagreement from here, but I still have hope we can be turned around. The 2016 e******n will be the determinate factor as to whether we survive or die as a country.

I don't disagree either but electing Tweedledum will not solve anything.
