For a guy and his girlfriend with two kids follow these proven steps:

1. Don't get married to her.

2. Always use your mom's address to get mail.

3. The guy buys a house.

4. Guy rents out house to his girlfriend who has 2 of his kids.

5. Section 8 will pay $900 a month for a 3 bedroom home.

6. Girlfriend signs up for Obamacare so guy doesn't have to pay for family insurance.

7. Girlfriend gets to go to college for free being a single mother

8. Girlfriend gets $600 a month for food stamps

9. Girlfriend gets free cell phone

10. Girlfriend get free utilities.

11. Guy moves into home but continues to use moms house to get mail sent to.

12. Girlfriend claims one kid and guy claims one kid on taxes.

Now you both get to claim head of house hold at $1,800 credit.

13. Girlfriend gets disability for being "crazy" or having a "bad back" at $1,800 a month and never has to work again.

This plan is perfectly legal and is being executed now by millions of people.

A married couple with a stay at home mom yields $0 dollars.

In case you missed it, or didn't bother to look; All welfare programs combined, account for 14% of the budget, so that CANNOT be the single source of budget deficits - and we all understand that these deficits are what the National debt consists of.

Defense accounts for 24% of the budget, Federal retirement another 23%, followed by healthcare at 22%, note: much of the healthcare allocation is PAID for, with premium payments made by recipients, but the budget doesn't separate those commitments from Medicaid and other "give away" programs. None of the first two mentioned budget items have ANY income attached.

Welfare programs once only affected 1 in 350 citizens, now it's somewhere around 1 in 125 and that's a direct reflection of the economy being so sluggish. As to the free loaders, there are definitely those, who CAN be weeded out - if there were enough people to do so - but there isn't. There is even a fraud hotline, where citizens can report suspicious welfare stuff, but with one person covering several counties - only 1 in 24 reports are being investigated. There is the real issue - and the obvious solution.

Entitlement and interest are now at least 72% of the budget. Not saying right or wrong. It's just math and if interest rates go up we will be the next Greece, eventually.

This is the very thing I witnessed when I was a kid...my Dad was working 2 jobs to make ends meet, my brother and I would work odd jobs and hay during the summer to buy school clothes...Mean while a friend i knew in school lived with his dad and several other siblings and the mother lived at another address with the other kids...both collecting welfare...a kick in the teeth for sure but like Dad said you can never go wrong doing right!

That isn't even remotely accurate - except for the interest payments - which is ALL we're paying. We keep adding to the debt every month and haven't made a principle payment since the 1990's.

If welfare is 14% of the budget ( maybe, maybe not) that would be a good place to start chopping, along with plenty other places

And regardless of how much of the total l budget it is, those welfare schemes are outrageous and should be stopped now.

We didn't make any payment on the principal in the 1990s either. The last true surplus was in 1957, and then it was in the millions, not billions. By the way, "principle" is one thing entirely lacking in ALL government, unless you consider crime a virtue.

If you are living off welfare, you do not have an income to file taxes. Therefore there is no refund.
