You are nineteen years old.you are lying critically wounded in the jungle somewhere in the central highlands of Viet Nam.its Nov 11,1967,lz(landing zone)xray.
your unit is under heavy fire from mortars and machine guns.it is so intense that your CO has ordered the medevac copters to stop evacuation attempts.
You are lying there listening to the machine guns and you know in your heart that you will not survive.Your family is halfway around the world and you know that you will never see them again.As the world starts to fade you realize that this is your last day.
but then over all the noise you hear that wop wop wop and you look up and theres a huey coming in through all the gun fire.
but it don't seem real because there is no medevac markings on it.
Captain Ed Freeman is coming in to get you!!!
He's not medevac so its not his job nut he has heard the radio t***smissions and he is flying his huey down anyhow.
And he sits there in heavy fire while they load you and two more into the huey.amd he flies you out of there to the doctors and safety.and he kept coming back.thirteen times.He braved heavy fire to extract twenty nine wounded soldiers from that hell on earth.
No one knew until it was all over that Ed had been hit four times in his legs and left arm.
That day many would have died except for the bravery of Ed Freeman.
MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT CAPTAIN ED FREEMAN

Ed died at the age of seventy
